Hurling does itself no favours by this kind of down-the-nose attitude. Football has given me some of the best days of my life.

They'll be plenty of upsets in Ulster, if ye could call any game an upset. All teams are there on merit. I see Ballybay game is on RTE.

There are plenty of good football men, past players and managers. etc. saying the same, ' football is shocking to watch'. Are they showing a 'down-the-nose attitude' towards football?

IM not a bit surprised at that result , Ballybay a well drilled , coached fit outfit and every player comfortable on the ball and a fair sprinkling of county men,O bye the way managed by a Kilcoo man, Looking foward to next Sundays game

Sportsjoe.ie must be mourning Crossmaglen's loss. Personally, I am delighted. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1491 - 06/11/2022 12:51:19 2446617 Link 1 |
Yes, they are certainly showing a dismissive attitude towards *current* football? Sime hurlers consider that football is generally inferior. Some retired footballers consider that modern football is inferior to what it was "in their day". Many of those former footballers were, of course, brilliant ball players. But being brilliant at playing football is no guarantee that you'll be objective about analysing it. And, yes, both lots have a down-the-nose-attitude. What's your point? You always get lots of former players with rose-tinted spectacles on. It's a feature of aging generally. I wouldn't be inclined to take them too seriously. points50swiththeargyllsonthewrongfeet (Tyrone) - Posts: 293 - 06/11/2022 13:51:10 2446620 Link 0 |

I suppose at least Crossmaglen won all their matches and cups themselves and didn't have to buy them #buyamanagertowinagame

Makes you wonder why he isn't managing his own club doesn't it

Hurling is boring, they can score from anywhere and you can't see if it was a score or not anyway, I have no idea what half of the pundits are saying, it's like a pavey point agm listening to them. The same handful of counties keep playing each other over and over every year in some made up rubbish of a competition, Galway play in Leinster?? it's rubbish imo. Why would you have such a dislike for Crossmaglen? I'd be a complete neutral in an Ulster club game.

Be hard to dislike Cross now. Stong claims to be the best club football side of all time. Excellent match to watch. Thought Ballybay were very good. Interesting that in last few years Ulster has been ahead of posse in producing more attack minded sides as opposed to what had become the stereotype. Whoever comes out of Ulster will be hard to beat. All serious teams left now. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3520 - 07/11/2022 16:34:19 2446771 Link 1 |
Cross defence was very poor, far to open and was made all too easy for ballybay to just walk threw them. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 744 - 07/11/2022 17:03:02 2446777 Link 0 |

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but to be fair I think your county is responsible for the biggest crime against a sport that I can remember in GAA with the 2011 semi final vs Dublin. if you want a rubbish competition just look at what the Leinster and Munster football championships have become in the last decade.
