Replying To Viking66:  "Skippy Ruth being rumoured in the running for the St. Mullins job. Excellent opportunity for him to gain more managerial experience in another county, competing in the Kilkenny Leagues, and working with 8 or 9 Senior intercounty hurlers at a decent standard of club. Hope he gets it."
Believe he may be in with rathnure for the year. Was told that recently

Was Skippy Ruth not talked about for Wexford job months ago? And now St. Mullins best he can get?

Have to say I think that's a very condescending and unfair attitude towards St. Mullins.

I'd take the Rathnure comment afterwards as being tongue-in-cheek.

Replying To grassroots01:  "Well aware that Sheil was with Rosslare last year and brought them from relegation final in 2022 to title contenders and topping their group this year. Any of the footballers I talked to also credited him for winning out the football. What I was getting at is that we don't seem to have any coaching pathway for our good coaches. After that 2 year stint with the u20s in 2020/1 he's been cast aside by the CB when in my opinion he should've been nurtured. Can't comment on Cully and not sure what Liam Roche has done since either - that's all I was getting at, nothing else."
Did he apply for any jobs since?

Heard very good things about him too. Wasn't aware he was a selector in 2019. He was with the u20s in 2020/1.

You are a little out of touch over there. The rumour on this was he didn't want the Wexford job on account of time as he has a young family. St Mullins would likely be a top 6 Senior club if they played in Wexford. They beat our county champions in Leinster only last year.

I'd rather St. Mullins right now if I was a top manager.

He was coaching Gorey in 2021 when Willie Cleary was the manager, he was managing the Oulart minors this year, he's teaching in Wexford CBS so probably doing a good bit of coaching there too.

He was with Gorey seniors after that for while I think with Willie Cleary

Taking over St Anne's I believe. Be interesting to see how he goes think they have had a couple of good minor teams in the last couple of years

Hope it goes well for him. He's a very progressive coach apparently, and we need more men with new ideas.

Plenty to play for in this year's League now

It's basically just going back to the pre Davy era format.

Personally think it's harmful.

In theory it will make 3 Liam Mccarthy teams worse.

I don't think it's what we needed this year either to be honest

I think it should make the League more competitive again. The last few years there was nothing really to play for. Alot of the games last year especially were pretty poor. There's 2 up and 2 down so noone aspiring to be in div1a should be stuck in div1b overly long. Unless they deserve to be. Or want to be.
As regards us I don't expect us to have too much of a different panel to the last few years. Younger lads have been given their S and C and nutrition programmes, and have had a good look at the levels they need to get up to. Its up to them to stick with their programmes over the coming year. Some have been kept on for the Walsh Cup panel where they will get to experience Senior intercounty games for the 1st time. A handful will make the League panel. Being realistic its going to be at least 2 years until many of them are able for the physicality and intensity of Senior intercounty. At least Rossiter has brought these lads in. Now for those who have been released they know what it takes and can work at their game. The lads kept on will be getting another 3 months of top coaching and physical work.
As regards the League I think Rossiter will have learnt from the mistakes made last year. Sending 10 or 12 new or newer lads out to take on, and get hammered by, teams like Clare has to be damaging for group morale. At the time I thought it was a good thing, but in hindsight I don't think any more than 4 or 5 max new/newer lads should be thrown in at once. And tbh I don't think we will have any more than that who are ready yet in any case.

It will be alot easier for teams to get promoted at least in this format as 2 teams rather than 1 team going up and down. If we ended up in 1B and didn't get promoted a Joe Mcdonagh team or 1 of Antrim or Carlow would have to finish ahead of us.

Very disappointed to hear Richie Lawlor and Kyle scallan dropped.

Richie was the pick of that group last year.

Don't want to use today/tomorrow to avoid confusion but hurling on TG4 Sport YouTube channel on Tuesday night at 7 DCU vs UL in freshers think its a league final, bit of Wexford contingent on the DCU team I think likes of Luke Murphy, Darby Purcell and Dylan Purcell.

Seen for next year our championship games away to Antrim and home to Galway are on GAAGO, don't think our game v Dublin will be on RTE as there's alot of high profile games that weekend, 1 final round game from Leinster on GAAGO too so could be ourselves and Kilkenny.

I know, I think overall management were very disappointed too that they didn't show up for the trial phase, its hard to keep lads on a a panel that don't show up. Two lads with great potential, I'm sure they'll go to the development squad if they're interested enough!
