Replying To Doylerwex:  "Schools match at 4
Official turning on lights 4.25
Light show 5.10
Music from corner boy 5.15
Fireworks 5.45
Senior match 6"
So the second half the schools match is the first match under lights? Or am I reading that wrong?

Looks that way all right. Second half of the schools match will actually be the first action under the new floodlights. A nice way for a crowd of young lads to make some history!

Think their playing the equivalent game for football before Wexford V London in the league the week after.

Replying To Viking66:  "He was really poor. There were 3 old fellas from Offaly sitting behind me and they thought the same. He didn't let the game flow as such. He let Offaly lads away with holding and pushes in the back and blew our lads up for overcarrying when they were being held. He blew 1 of our lads up for a fair shoulder, which the 3 Offaly guys all agreed looked fair. He even blew one of our lads up for lying on the ball at one point, which he wasn't, and the only reason he was on all 4s beside the ball in the 1st place was he got pushed over from behind. If he had of been consistent I wouldn't be complaining."
Sorry Viking but can't be any more armed the the ref from gusserane. But in all seriousness he was poor the shoulder was from Shane reck and that's when it was the second goal. In fairness if he booked the Offaly full back for stiming he had to be sent off for that strike on Dunbar. Hopefully banville hasn't a serious injury and is fit for the start of the league. He's been very good on frees and works really hard off the ball. Only concern is he drops the short a few times in both games from play. Other concern is a general one that that is the size of our younger players I feel they are quite small. Compare them to other teams I think they would be swallowed up. Just an opinion

Wonder will they have to open the terrace for that one?

Replying To ElGranSenor:  "I kinda agree although I don't know if that's an exceptionally high bar. I usually think Jack O'Connor is being played out of position (Would be best at wing-back but we've a lot of potential half-backs and not enough half-forwards) plus he can be a ball-winning outlet at times. Oisín Foley is probably the most comparable to Ross Banville in that he can be on the periphery of games at senior intercounty level but he is an excellent shooter from the half-forward line. I'm not generally sold on either Mikie Dwyer or Charlie McGuckin although if McGuckin was played in midfield rather than half-forward line and if he was told to never shoot and instead to look for a quick pass straightaway, he could be much more effective at this level. FWIW, in an ideal scenario, I'm not sure I'd have any of the above as starters aside from Jacko but we do lack depth in our attack."
And I totally agree -especially on Dwyer and McGuckin ! I'd throw Dunbar into the same bracket and if we had everyone fit none of them should start. Most of them have had plenty of chances and have never performed consistently - Banville needs to be given the same chances. Oisin Foley took his last year.

Agree perhaps about Dunbar. He had the one great championship game against Clare in 2021 but apart from that has looked better as an impact sub. He has had a few injuries. Still needs to be getting games during the League.
Dwyer has only been on the Senior panel the last couple of years and I think of the 3 has done the best on a more consistent basis. He came on against Clare for Rory in the 10th minute even though he was carrying an injury that ruled him out of the entire club hurling championship. He also scored the best point I saw scored at any level of the game against Kilkenny in Nowlan Park.
Mcguckin is the youngest of the 4. And has played the least. Definitely agree his best position is midfield.
Overall disagree that they have had plenty of chances except perhaps Dunbar. Mcguckin and Dwyer both did very well overall the last day against Offaly. Neither have been championship starters much yet. All 3 are only 24 or under. Think its a bit soon to be giving up on them tbh.

100%. Dunbarr slightly unlucky last year with injuries, especially after such a good game against Clare in 2021. How McGuckian is allowed near the panel is beyond me.

It's more accurate to say, I wonder how many bandwagoners that will show up this Saturday (and surely complain to the high heavens if Wexford lose), will also come out to support the footballers in what is a more important game, although starting from a much lower base?

I know which game I'll be prioritising to attend.

He's done fairly well the last 2 games countyman. Better the last day against Offaly but not bad against Laois either. He's only 23 and like most of our u20s was a good bit off Senior S and C wise when he finished up at that grade. He was captain of our u20s in 2019 if I remember right.

I checked this morning and there was over 90% Terrace tickets sold (U16 sold out).
Just checked again, all sold.

His contribution is fantastic.

The only thing he's missing is being able to shoot.

Should be a great evening out for families from Wexford and Kilkenny equally.

That is the way i read it too .. granted it will be bright when the lights are turned on so shouldn't have much affect

I took a nosey in the other night when they were testing the lights .. they are extremely bright .. have played under quite a few club lights but nothing compared to these .. to be fair they are damn impressive though

The same Interest wouldn't be there for the county football Beano.

Wexford is a passionate hurling county but that's not to say Wexford people don't like football.

They do, but I think club football championship in Wexford gets a bigger crowd than the county footballers.

If the county footballers go well in Leinster though, I've seen the interest pick up over the years.

Was talking to somebody in the know and he tells me the lights are 1,000 Lux in brightness. The ones in the Centre of Excellence are only 350. St Patrick's Park is somewhere around 200 to 250, and most club grounds with lights are about the same.

I see the team is named for Sat night.

From the Offaly game Rory Higgins, Niall Murphy, Gavin Bailey and Eoin Murphy are gone off the 26 panel while Banville, Dunbar and Mikey Dwyer are on the bench.

I would of liked to see Banville in action against Kilkenny to see how to matched up but I presume with Lee Chin starting the management have a reliable free taker anyway.

Dee O Keeffe and Richie Lawlor is a good midfield pairing I feel, Richie has loads of pace and is hurling well.

Stronger team named for Saturday. Good to see Carty, Lawlor, Hearne, Mcguckin and Pepper start. And to see Kevin Foley named on the bench. Hope they do well. And hope Jacko really kicks on this season starting the weekend. Hope Ross Banville gets a decent run out also.
