Replying To Cockney_Cat:  "It has nothing to do with narrowmindedness. Comments have to be checked/moderated before they are allowed. They (Hoganstand) haven't the resources to cover 24 hours of commenting."
I was not talking about the moderators or the moderating of posts. I was talking about the derogative comments about people posting after 10 p.m. As if the time zone of Ireland is the only one in the world. That kind of parochial narrow mindness that is so often displayed by some.

It's possible that HS is going through a type of transition that leads to winding down.

Very true CC. Only yourself, myself, the likes of OTM, Slayer, Canuck, CiarraiMick and Tiobraid would be left, and very few more.

We wouldn't be left with a single poster from Galway nor Wexford, and nobody posts as much or as often as those fellas.

The same goes for posters from Meath and Cavan. Not one would be left if any AI software was that clever. But I'd say if the site charged annual membership of $1 per year, it'd be even more effective than any software, in getting rid of the Cavan crowd.

I'd go even further and allow only posters from Ireland.

Oh, definitely in! You're within the jurisdiction and have a sense of humor as well. There are no conspiracy theories in Carlow!

The idea would be that it's linked to the time on your PC or phone, so that it's 10pm for everybody. Of course, you could easily alter the time on your PC to cheat the system if you really felt it couldn't wait until tomorrow.

I personally think a 24 hour delay on all posting, with a requirement to review it the next day (ping back asking: "are you sure you want to post this?"), would do the same job and would do wonders for mannerliness online, but folks are too impatient for that nowadays I suppose

It's a funny thing to say, but I've never had a national team to support. I've insufficient interest in the international sports that are organised on an all-island basis (rugby, hockey, cricket), and soccer is split. The sense of identity I get from club and county GAA in Tyrone is more important to me than anything else. It's the only place where I'm truly myself.

A 24 hour delay on all posting takes away all the positives of the internet. it would be quicker to send letters to peoples homes in response to posts then doing that..
explain please how you would set peoples access to posting based on the time on their PC? That just isnt possible.

A simple "Flag as inappropriate" would be a start. Link an account to a phone number, and the account should be banned for inappropriate posting.
There was a post on the Wexford board last year which should never have seen the light of day and the writer should be ashamed.

a report post should possibly be in place like other forums but when all posts are pre moderated then is that not necessary?
Linking an account to a phone number is unnecessary.
just ban the IP address.

When you have premoderated posts then a 'flag as inappropriate' button isnt exactly necessary now is it?
Linking accounts to phone number is not needed. if going that way then link to social media accounts and people dont post behind a pseudynym and instead use real names.
