Better still has the quality of topics, posts and posters improved or otherwise. It was a hot topic at the time of change. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 2776 - 09/09/2022 18:05:39 2440164 Link 0 |
Well what makes Cavan and Meath so special that their county forums were kept? HS is only a pale shadow of what it was. In fairness most counties have their own dedicated fans forums anyway these days. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11124 - 09/09/2022 18:41:56 2440165 Link 9 |
A national forum should only discuss matters with a country wide interest. The National Leagues, followed by the Provincial Championships, and All Ireland Series. Other topics may arise on occasion. With the season ending in July this year, the county championships have dominated the forum. I know Hogan Stand administrators have closed the various county websites, but I think that was an error, and should be reconsidered. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1527 - 09/09/2022 19:26:16 2440169 Link 1 |
Used to it now and happy enough with it. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 2376 - 09/09/2022 19:29:20 2440170 Link 0 |
The forum has become dominated by county club championships. The July ending to the All Ireland Finals means county championships are debated on the site,,

What's wrong with that? That's the way the old county sites were.

Wasn't a fan then, and not really a fan now. I assume it's the volume of administration required to vet comments across all counties. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2125 - 10/09/2022 09:00:51 2440182 Link 1 |
I think it's much weaker now. I thought it was much more entertaining and informative when all counties had seperate forums and you could hop into other county forums too. I really enjoyed HS a few years ago but find it a bit lame now tbh. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3221 - 10/09/2022 09:38:12 2440186 Link 4 |
Preferred it the old way but used to this one and happy enough with it. Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1434 - 10/09/2022 10:04:19 2440193 Link 0 |
I also preferred the old one but, like others, I am used to this way now. Having said that, if a fans zone was set up Freethinker (Wicklow) - Posts: 704 - 10/09/2022 10:52:45 2440197 Link 0 |
I agree with CiarraiMick. Quite a number of good posters left the scene when the change was made. Sadly, a few ill-formed, self-important voices didn't. I preferred the former days. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 1621 - 10/09/2022 10:55:17 2440198 Link 2 |
It's worse than what it used to be. My main gripe is the amount of time it's actually open. By open I mean live. You post a comment and have to wait hours for it appear. If someone replies, you can, again. wait hours to see it. I know that this is down to the amount of admin/mods and the time they have to work on the site. Agree with most of this. Especially the time lag. But we still need separate threads for different topics within a county.

Not much time lag there lol!

We don't really, just you Viking. You need a separate day of the week for all you comment on (not criticizing you, just remarking, as the higher percentage of your comments are quite constructive). Anyway, best of luck to your beloved Wexford footballers and John Hegarty's management reign. Wexford, to me, and only my opinion, still remains more of a footballing county than a hurling one; 4-in-a-row football AIs, first county to do so; just 2-in-row ever in hurling! foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 1621 - 10/09/2022 13:50:41 2440224 Link 0 |

Perhaps yourself CC and fellows like OTM, Slayer, CiarraiMick and Canuck. Listening to relevant, balanced and accurate posts should keep any man in check. They do me.
