Replying To Stmunnsriver:  "will the starting time of the tipp game be changed not to clash with the hurling ?"
Would say it's highly unlikely.

A look at the fixtures shows that of the Div. 1 hurling counties, five more are in the same boat as ourselves, with their hurlers at one venue that day and their footballers at another - Clare, Cork, Antrim, Tipperary, Waterford.

Of the mainly football counties, there's at least five more - Monaghan, Meath, Louth, Fermanagh, and Cavan.

I just couldn't see so many fixtures being changed to avoid clashes, particularly since playing on St. Patrick's Day doesn't seem to be an option in many places, and there's no great appetite for playing on the Bank Holiday Monday either.

I took the question to mean "clash" as in "impossible to attend both".

But yeah, at least we've a few hours of a gap between throw-in times, so at least you could attend one and listen to the other one on the radio in comfort somewhere.

Some other counties have the exact same throw-in times at two different venues, or throw-ins just half an hour apart.

No-one will get to both matches unless they have a helicopter. If anyone has one, keep me a seat, I'll sing and tell yarns in exchange for a berth

Would it really matter when or where, the games were played ??
I've seen double-headers, league and championship, at various venues, and it was surprising to see how many "supporters" only turned up for their favoured code.

Think Tipp play there a good bit McGrath Cup, underage etc. so must be well equipped for these games.

Fair play to Wexford Co board for getting the game moved to Wexford.

Yeah not a good look. Trying to make out that somehow it's all good because we will operate home and away from now on is hardly going to appease the players or anyone who follows football in the County.

Too late in the day probably for the co Board to do a deal on tickets for both games?

Or maybe they can't anyway due to them being league games

The move is an odd one all right. You'd think Tipperary could have found a suitable pitch somewhere in the county, if they'd really wanted to.

And while realistically there was only ever going to be a small crowd at it in Templetuohy, chances are there's at least a few from the Tipp football community who'd already bought tickets or who were planning to go, and who won't be impressed with the decision their Co. Board has made.

There's a valid point above too about how other counties in the promotion race might have something to say about Wexford suddenly having an "unfair" extra home advantage, but I presume the move is all above board, because Croke Park would have had to okayed it anyway.
