Replying To Lockjaw:  "This is it. I see lots of football journalists clutching their pearls and almost chastising Newcastle fans for continuing to support their club. The Tory government bend over backwards to do business with Saudi Arabia. Aren't we all a small bit complicit in enabling the Saudi regime with our consumption of their oil?"
Mental gymnastics at its finest from most people when it comes to football club ownership. Premier league clubs and a fair chunk of Championship clubs out side of maybe Luton, Brentford and Brighton are run by faceless corporate entities, who have no connection to the locales or communities that support them.

It will be a long time before clubs are owned by supporters or locals again, thank God they have the fit and proper persons test in place though otherwise West Ham could be owned by a family of porn barons.

Yeah the days of the local business man done well running the local team, like Jack Walker at Blackburn in 94 are well gone. Hedge funds, petro-states, oligarchs (up until recently at least) are the only entities with the financial clout to take over major football clubs these days.

The Glazers will eventually sell United, and it will likely be some Qatari ("who has no affiliation to the government there" - lol) and their fans will rejoice that the Glazers are gone.

Those of us in rural Ireland, need the oil for our cars and vans, so we can do our essential business in our local towns. There is a modern trend for football clubs to be run by the type of investors outlined above. How many of them know anything about the game..

I see the good old dinosaurs in the DUP, are against any money given to develop Casement Park, as a venue for Euro 2028, because it is a GAA ground. Ravenhill and Windsor Park would hardly be rejected by Jeffrey's jokers. How they are given any credence as a serious political party is a mystery, they have one word No, to everything. I heard Ben Lowery, editor the Belfast Newsletter, on RTÉ yesterday. He was using the same anti GAA rhetoric, saying it only represents one side of the community. I thought he was an intelligent rational man, maybe he never heard of East Belfast GAA club.

Daniel Levy chairman and part owner of Spurs is a lifelong fan. He is also the longest-serving chairman in the Premier League.

Levy is just the CEO though. The Enic investment group are the actual owners. Joe Lewis was the main man there although he has been delicately removed from the board as he faces numerous conspiracy to defraud charges.

Joe Lewis was not 'delicately removed from the board as he faces numerous conspiracy to defraud charges'.
Lewis ceased being an owner of Spurs in October 2022, nine months before the conspiracy to defraud charges were brought.
As for Levy, he is not 'just the CEO'. Enic own 87% of Tottenham. Levy owns 30% of Enic.

Well its time now for Ireland to make it happen and win the QF. There is nothing to say that NZ are a better team and its now up to Ireland to prove it. I believe they will, the QF will more similar to the SA game than the Scotland game with the forwards to the fore. Hopefully the injuries are not as bad as they seemed.

Ryan and Hansen the major worries, Ryan back in Dublin for medical assessment. Both would be a big loss, however this time we look to have good replacements. Play to our potential and every chance Ireland make the semi final. Both teams will be well up for game and expect our biggest test to date.

Wayne Barnes! As popular with Irish alickadoos, as James Owens is with knowledgeable Galway hurling fans.

Hopefully we win. wont try and say anything about if we dont until after as all depends on the performance as all too often we've not performed at all in a knock out game. we've just been well beaten

Barnes will not be an issue. he's one of the best in the world. we're very used to him refereeing our players be it with provinces or national side and it isnt a problem

Barnes not a problem, has developed into a top class ref and imagine Ireland will be pleased with appointment.

We will need that little bit of luck too. If both teams play their best there will be nothing in it.

I would never point fingers at a ref anyway and won't at Barnes but he is a massive fan of himself and has become the centre of attention far too often in games.

Contradicting yourself there...'would never point fingers', and then jump in with a severe criticism that he's 'become the centre of attention far too often in games'.

Same team that started against the Scots, MacCarthy replaces injured JR on bench. McCluskey looses out to Jimmy O Brien who can cover all across back line, lesson learned from last game. Overall a very strong team. Best of luck to all.

I heard Gregor Paul?, an NZ rugby correspondent, tell Newstalk last evening that some part of him expects it to be over by HT......NZ winning comfortably. This lad has written 7 books about rugby I see, so clearly knows what he's talking about!!

Well you are certainly an expert on people who are fans of themselves......

He doesn't become centre of attention far too often. Completely baseless to say he does
