Replying To GreenandRed:  "Frustrated after we were 5 points up but sure we never closed it out so didn't deserve the two points."
Some awful decision making in the last 5 minutes. Going for a score with time almost up was the worst of them all.

Replying To ponga:  "Probably too many subs late on when we were in control but happy enough with the performance until injury time. Ref in most incidences got the calls right except the corner back Finn with the strike to Carr's face. If the ref didn't see it he shouldn't have given a yellow if he did see it then he has to give red."
He didn't get the last decision right.. Armagh lad lunged into the Mayo back who didn't foul and ref should have seen this. Also thought Rian O Neill should have got the line for his high tackle. Ref right beside it.

Aido played very well. Ethan Rafferty is too good a footballer to be stuck in goal.

In all fairness Ethan Rafferty spends more time out the field than he does in goal.

I think he's too good though to be in goal at all. Aggressive skilful smart footballer, serious kick passer of a ball too. Maybe he wouldn't be a serious threat if he was starting outfield though.

Shane Walsh had a similar rush of blood to the head v armagh last year with the same result. And what a year hw ended up having. So i wouldnt go too hard on the player in question.

There have been a lot of these high tackles in recent weeks even going back to the junior club final, all that I've seen have resulted in yellows not sure why?

With most of those high tackles, players exaggerate the contact. Anything around the chest gets turned into a clothesline by the dramatic fall. Yellow cards are nearly always correct.

The ref completely played the occasion giving that last free. O'Neill just ran into the Mayo defender and fell to the ground.

Obviously it should never have come down to that with us having a 5 point lead.

Fergal Kelly refereed both sides poorly. Couldn't keep up with the play. We should be well past the stage of blaming the ref for results not going our way. We didn't close it out when we went 5 points up. That's what we need to work on, what we can do, not what we can't. We've a bit more improving to do before the Kerry game.

How would Galway have dealt with having a big lead against Armagh with only a few minutes left?

Keep the Bear in the Square. If O Shea had stayed or was told to stay in the Armagh square for the last 10 minutes, he would have kept their goal keeper and full back there also and a sweeper would also have to stayed inside their 45, leaving three less Armagh players to attack mayo and mayo witht two spare players to pass ball to, also if he was in the square McLaughlin had another option than taking that last pot shot.

Leave The Bear in The Square.

I think the only way you'd keep Rafferty in the square is if you chain him to the goalposts. He's like an young bullock that's got the taste of sweet grass in an other farmer's field.

Going by the predictions on another thread not many seen todays result coming. Not a bad Saturday evenings work by Mayo. Not perfect but pretty damn good. Passing was off at times & missed some easy points but that can be worked on. Flynn was outstanding.

Who cares. If you took the predictions of a certain poster Mayo would be bottom with zero points ;)

You lads are in serious shape for the time of year. Impressive strength and conditioning on all of the new and newish players. The tackling and work rate when out of possession was Dublin at their peak like and Kerry especially 1st half struggled. Their own man Donie Buckley finger prints all over it.

Galway and Ros won't be able to keep a ball kicked out to them in April Analyser ;-)

Mayo's defending was a sight to behold last night. Only for Clifford it could have been embarrassing.

If Galway can get Finnerty and Comer back on the pitch, they won't do much this year anyway
