Replying To yew_tree:  "I'm no fan of the the CB but let them at it. This very public managerial selection process is embarrassing. Some of our fans think they have a right to know absolutely everything that goes on. I much prefer the "behind closed doors" approach and not "airing your laundry" in public approach.

As ever there is a fascination with all things Mayo GAA from within and outside the county."
it just seems that the whole process is taking a long time. As far as the County Board goes i think everything they do should be public, I have absolutely no faith in them. My opinion.

Interesting developments in Mayo this evening. Won't name names but looks like RTE will now have to find 2 new pundits next year ;-)

They have finally got it over the line. I'd say McStay is as shocked as the rest of ye. Thank God... we can all now get on with our lives....

McStay confirmed be interesting to see how he fare. For one a far strong management team behind him than he had with Roscommon, one we wouldn't be able to afford.

McStay finally got it.
Only 25 years in the making

The have a basketballer, tackling specialist, the Mayo tinkerman and a man who knows the club scene very well with a good TV performer managing the lot.

Weather they can teach a few forwards to kick the ball over the bar is the whole different story

Jeez, the County Board never ceases to surprise ;) Best of luck to McStay and his team, hopefully they can get the best out of the team, which hopefully stays injury-free for once.

4 year term ? And bringing back lads who there already?
The circus continues...

A bit of continuity with Done Buckley involved. I thought Mayo would have wanted a clean slate. The players were opposed to having Liam McHale involved when McStay went for it previously

How is that a circus? Fresh manager, coaches who know the set up. One of the strongest management teams in the country. They have to be favourites for Connacht now.

I can tell ye one thing. McStay won't be influenced by any of the players and if they don't like it , no one will be crying after them.

That was the rumour but most of those players have moved on. 2014 is a long time ago in footballing terms. Dempsey would have been preference but time to get behind them now.

Galway and Cavan posters making negative comments on McStay /McHale/Buckley already, they must be getting nervous .

Not one bit shocked it was McStay. I figured with the four names that were in the hat it would be him that would come out. It's now his time to put up or shut up. The bonus is we won't have to listen to him commentate or do punditry for 4 years.

I can understand Galway fans having a go but what's up with Cavan. One would think they'd be more worried about you up in Donegal.
