Replying To wexico15:  "Six Nations draws huge tv numbers and high profile intercounty on TV yesterday too.

Heard a suggestion yesterday that the new St Brigid's day Bank Holiday ( 1st Monday of February) should become the new club finals day, I wouldn't mind that idea myself."
It would be a good slot to have the club finals but split season will prevent it. After the next congress it's likely the national league will be linked in some form to the championships.

With the leagues due to start at the end of January and the club having it's own window later in the year, I think it would be fair for inter county teams to expect to have their squads available for the start of the national leagues, especially when it'll become more important than before.

I also expect the Sigerson will be given a new slot in the diary for those same reasons.

I take that its been a long time since you stepped foot inside a club field...

You take it whatever way you want, doesn't remove the fact that the money men are looking to condense the GAA fixtures to suit themselves.

I wouldn't say so as they don't get any type of ticket so no way of knowing how many go in.

From an event management thats crazy thats still happening in this day and age. anyone going in even for free should be ticketed so they know how many are in each section of ground etc.

They are "clicked" in at the gates I believe. But every ground could be different. 9k was the official attendance for Mayo v Donegal in Sligo but talking to a sligo man he reckoned there was at least 12k at the game so maybe u16s were not counted.

Over 43,000 at the 4 division one football league games at the weekend. Not too often you'd get that kind of number at a round of division one hurling games. Division one football has been very entertaining to date.

24k at Dublin Mayo and 11k at Armagh Monaghan, small crowds on Sunday with the terrible weather.

Crowds are good all round . I wouldn't be putting football v hurling as a barometer. Obviously there are more counties at the football .
Limerick v Cork in the hurling will draw a big crowd this Sunday

Limerick Cork 12,081 (Examiner)
Mayo Armagh 11,000 (Times)

Some fans those Mayo lads when you consider this home game was played in Roscommon. Looked like a good Armagh contingent there too.

Newbridge looked close to full for Kildare vs Dubs too, close to 10k I'd say?

Serious crowd. The league is booming.

Cork v Galway 13,063
Clare Limerick 10,016
Waterford Tipp 5,800

Good crowd in Parnell Park for Dublin Kilkenny too. I don't see a figure for that anywhere though

was told by croke park years ago, you always need to add 25% to the official figure to get thr exact crowd, that was in 90s
