Seems a bit of a mess, hearing reports of players picking the manager and county board indecisiveness.

I've been told manager should be announced by end of next week.
Seemingly a very tight race.

I heard rumours that Ciaran Dinky McBride will be the new Monaghan senior manager.

Players have not accepted the co board's choice of manager, seems to be a case of the tail wagging the dog here, not a good sign.

Can't see the county board being dictated by the players on a managerial appointment?

If true, it confirms the horror stories coming outta the set up about egos and self preservation!

Players seem to forget that they play for the manager and get chosen by the manager. Not the other way around. Your not gonna get 35+ lads to all agree on the one manager. The county board should stand there ground and decide. The longer it goes on the less games the next potential manager is going to see in the club campaign.

Maybe we are better off without these egos, at the end of the day, their games are up anyways.

Why would any man continue to seek a job where he is not wanted by the players or the county board. If Jason Sherlock got a coach at any stage over the past month he was getting the job so it's not just the players who are not happy with the local man who is going for it. Don't be spinning it any other way.

Just heard a horror story about the process, if half of it is true I'm ashamed for my county.

Without getting into the gutter on the details, 3 men were interviewed, 2 pulled out after the process and only 1 remained. Co board & Players both refused to go forward with the remaining ticket.
Players and Board need to take a long hard look at themselves, I'm hearing a few of the more "senior" players in particular, looking to hold onto the sense of entitlement & importance they've had.
More will undoubtably fall out in next coming days, I hope the next man "qualified" enough to actually get the job has a idea of the personality's he's to deal with. The same personality that fill the togs at the sight of a Tyrone jersey year in year out.

Naw, I not. If I was, you would be appointed with your 10 aliases on the HS site as your backroom team.

Always been there unfortunately. One of the reasons team could never back up those ulster titles in croke Park or took numerous teams for granted in ulster they considered their lessor. Over inflated sense of themselves. The players clearly believe they are big time and as such only a big time manager or name will do. Still predict be recently retired player or a name from Armagh or Tyrone parachuted in to appease the players.

We are now in a position where a few of the bigger names will select a manager that suits their short term plan, 1 or 2 more years hanging onto the sponsored cars etc.

I predict certain relegation, and a championship determined by how long we avoid Don, Tyr, Arm, Der. The ego monsters will then jump ship, sure Div 1 wouldn't be high profile enough for this big lads.

Co board have put the handbrake on the development of the 2 promising minor teams just to appease a very select few has-beens.

I didn't hear many of these doom and gloom prophets when we retained our div.1 and reached a ulster final in 2021 after a famous day in Newry

That is exactly what was done 3 years ago with the Banty appointment and the brake is still on. It will be a lost generation.

Such nonsense. Div 1 status was retained at the expense of our young players. Just like in 09 and 10, flogging a dead horse to death. Clones in 2020 was a shambles against Cavan as was the Ulster final of 2021. I think we all know what drove Monaghan on in Newry that day and it had little to do with management.
