Okay and what does that prove? You were better on the day? Come back in July and talk. As many have discussed here, the games over a week. Monaghan are around long enough playing in the latter stages of the championship to move on. It seems the bonfires at still lit in Cavan....

Truagh were short help too, namely their main man so it was a good result for them - but truth be told the standard of ball was atrocious. It was the kind of game that made me feel sorry for Vinny, no help coming from either of these clubs based on Sundays evidence.

Intermediate is going to be very hard to call this year. Very convincing win for Magheracloone over the harps and Thyholland with a good victory over Blaney. Very hard to predict who will go up senior this year.. could be any of Magheracloone, Truagh, Carrick, Blaney... looking forward to the championship later in the year. I believe Kieran Duffy picked up an injury in club game at the weekend. This could put an end to the county players playing for their clubs now before Monaghans next game. It is literally just bad luck after bad luck for Vinny and Co. countymonaghan (Monaghan) - Posts: 289 - 16/04/2024 12:59:39 2538334 Link 0 |
Jesus, haven't been looking at forum in over a week and I come back and I thought I was on the Cavan forum. Lads stop with the infatuation with Monaghan, you've Tyrone on Sunday, time to move on Blackcardnot (USA) - Posts: 42 - 16/04/2024 19:53:14 2538413 Link 1 |
A good performance from the U20's tonight. The Mooney brothers were top class. Stephen Mooney showed with 10 pts just how good he will be. McCaul was unplayable in the first half, Armagh ended up having to triple mark him (at times) in the second half which did reduce his effectiveness but it opened up space for others to score such as Dara McKenna. Some very good defenders on this team. Carolan is so composed on the ball and was top class. Callan at CHB was excellent. Doogan-Burke was very good too. You'd hope some of these lads will continue to develop into top class senior players. Hughes and Carey while not natural midfielders have prodigious work rate. Hard to know if Hughes will concentrate on the hurling after he's done with U20 level. Hopefully McQuillan and Conlon will be back fit for the semi-final. sleater (Monaghan) - Posts: 178 - 17/04/2024 21:11:15 2538716 Link 0 |
We're you in Armagh last night. Monaghan football in a good place.

So its Monaghan v Tyrone and Donegal v Derry now in semi finals... I presume Tryone are the team to beat in this years U20 championship, what are our chances ? by all accounts, we were unlucky against Derry and I believe Mooney was not playing in that game ? Would be a good to make it to the Ulster Final this year SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 155 - 18/04/2024 09:32:40 2538772 Link 0 |
Are we 100% sure of the pairings according to the Hogan stand we are playing Donegal in Ballybofey see attached. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/79Y7T6dCHe48ih2z/ foreverfarney (Monaghan) - Posts: 5 - 18/04/2024 10:37:46 2538785 Link 0 |
Tyrone are currently the bookies favourites for the all ireland u20 title. They are undoubtably a very good team with some terrific players especially McElholm who is a special talent. The thrashing they gave Monaghan last week will have no bearing whatsoever on next week's semi-final as Monaghan had a shadow team out and nothing to play for. Tyrone's U20 games against Down (they were lucky to get a draw) and Derry (won it with last kick of the game) are a more accurate reflection on their capabilities and standing. You'd also have to say both Derry and Down are good teams too. Actually Down now enter the new secondary U20 competition and will be hot favourities to win that out. Yes, Stephen Mooney didn't feature against Derry and he was a huge loss. The other things against Derry was that 3 players went off injured, 2 mid way through the first half and that was a major impact too. For Monaghan to beat Tyrone will need to be at their very best and have their best team available too. The latter I'm not sure as to whether if McQuillan and Conlon will be available. Both would be big additions to the Monaghan U20 team and certain starters. Tyrone will be favourites but Monaghan if they preform like last night against Armagh and have a full deck to pick from, then have every chance of progressing to the final. sleater (Monaghan) - Posts: 178 - 18/04/2024 10:55:02 2538792 Link 0 |
yes.. not sure about this. Monaghan GAA on twitter states that they play Tyrone in Healy Park next Wednesday in the semi final. Would prefer Donegal in the semi for sure. I think Hoganstand might be wrong though, Ulster GAA also have it as Tyrone v Monaghan. https://ulster.gaa.ie/fixtures-and-results/ SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 155 - 18/04/2024 11:43:49 2538809 Link 0 |
Very good win in Armagh last night, against a hulking lump of an Armagh u20 team. You'd rarely see a bigger outfit at this grade, and for the first 15 minutes or so it looked like Monaghan would be swatted away physically. Armagh had them pinned on kickouts, were winning all the long ball sent in on top of their backline, and were enjoying target practice with long range shots into the Crescent goals. 5 -2 on the scoreboard told the tale. Would love if Monaghan played a game like donegal just have. We consider ourselves on par with these teams or close to it but never really play with that energy. 222 (UK) - Posts: 845 - 20/04/2024 20:03:24 2539317 Link 0 |

We have no pace up front. Mccarron and mcmanus are slow. Attacking at speed seems to be in vogue now in Ulster. Great to watch a team trying to attack at speed

What a great weekends action, McGuinness provided a tactical masterclass once again to see off Derry. Can't believe Harte still persisted with letting Lynch out the pitch for opposition kick-out's after their first goal, McGuinness must have been astonished. It was obvious that Tyrone were very cautions about doing this against Cavan yesterday. SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 155 - 22/04/2024 09:27:37 2539706 Link 0 |

Let's all get out and support them in Omagh. They are a hardworking team with a few very talented lads. Will be a step up from previous games. Here's hoping and good luck to Paul and the team.
