Replying To BigSur:  "Just on the championship fixtures, we do know the assigned weekends as per fixtures plan but I agree it would be help to have all the group stage fixtures confirmed in detail. Big ask for one person who I believe does both codes.
The social media coverage of games is the bare minimum. You'll get a half time and full time score if you're lucky. Tables on website don't get updated until the next day. Again, more people needed I suggest. Some clubs are great on updates, others useless. Was at a SFC game in Cusack Park last week and no team sheets or line ups called out on PA.
At a hurling championship game in Kinnegad over the weekend and they didn't even bother with the score board.
Rant over !"
Same story in Athlone midweek for Garrycastle v Caulry-no team sheets-no teams called or subs named coming on.Im sure some young student would be only to happy to oblige if given the info and maybe a few bob for their troubles!

I never came across anyone to complain as much. As in every Westmeath thread down the years you always have something to moan about…

Who's responsibility is it, the host club or the county board? No venue has had team sheets, sub announcements etc.
Yet again round 3 fixtures released twice with changes to the original fixtures. Bordering on a disgrace at this stage the contempt at which players and clubs are treated with, any wonder lads pack in playing

Name some players who have packed in playing? The fixture changes are because of a small matter called the Fleadh which starts this weekend.

The changes to the round 3 fixtures involved a couple of venue changes, hardly life altering for anyone.

I am a current player and I have decided not play for my club next year. Trying to plan any sort of life outside of football has become impossible and I feel that the benefits of playing no longer outweigh the downsides. Getting 7 days notice of a championship match simply is not acceptable.

Since you are taking a year out and have time on your hands you should put your name forward for fixture secretary.

From the games so far , any one seen any club players who could force their way into the county set up? The downs and kinnegad looked to have some good players who weren't involved this year

Junior football games have been switched from Friday to Monday, would consider that a big deal on a bank holiday weekend

Yeah and the small matter of the fleadh has been known well in advance yet they originally fix a double header in Cusack on Saturday & Sunday, and the streets of Mullingar closing on Friday !! I have a bee in my bonnet over the fixtures for the group stage not being set at the start. Every county surrounding Westmeath can do it apart from Westmeath. Send out the exact fixtures (not just the weekend !!!) in advance, then the fixtures secretary has his job done for 2 months until the knock out stage. That allows players, management, backroom , committees, supporters, wives & partners advance notice to plan work, social life, holidays etc . While still being able to commit to GAA. It's not rocket science!

Streets being closed on Sunday, not Saturday, matches going ahead in Cusack on Saturday. Don't let facts get in the way of another rant.

Sunday's senior football double header moved from Cusack to Kinnegad.
No big deal but must have been a mix up - the fleadh is no secret.

Just on the 2 previous points re PR and team lists etc.
My point is that if clubs are hosting championship games then surely they should use the score board if they have one.
If clubs have a PA system, then why not use it ?
Don't expect clubs to be copying team sheets but at least read them out in Cusack Park.
I'm saying this as I attend many games a neutral and would like to have some idea on line ups.
I just feel there is so much more potential on the whole presentation and promotion of the championship.
It's nearly a case of "It'll do" or "It will be grand".
In Meath, team sheets are available online for supporters to print themselves ahead of matches.
2 other great sources of info for club championships within their own counties are billhill.com (Wicklow) and Kildare's really unofficial twitter account. I am sure there are more.
Having been a club player and official for 40 years, I have huge respect for anyone that gets involved at county level. I just think it could be so much better.

Surprised there hasn't been more made of the dual player load at the moment - is it 6 games in 18 days ?
I heard Pat O'Toole complaining about it which is understandable. Luke Loughlin's load could have contributed to his injury ?

Fair point re injuries and number of games for dual players, however Clonkill were 12 points ahead when Luke got injured, at that stage they should have had Niall Mitchell, Darragh Egerton and Luke subbed off, the match was over, Mitchell suffered a blood injury and had to go off and yet they brought him back on. The Downs supporters at the match weren't happy.

Big win for Tang tonight against Rosemount. They looked like they would be coming out second best being behind for most of the game but they pulled it out of the bag. Rosemount will be disappointed but relied heavily on scores from Sean Pettit and have an uphill battle to avoid relegation. Rosemount have Athlone and Moate to play while Tang have Killucan and Moate. I still wouldn't call it but both teams still have plenty to work on if they want to get wins out of their last two games
