Team of the best players… St Lomans, followed closely by Kinnegad, then Caulry but they were a good bit behind, then just behind that and probably on a par were Killucan and Tyrrellspass… Tang and Athlone after that, then Shamrocks, The Downs and Shandonagh, with Moate behind them and Garrycastle very disappointing and taking the last spot. Wanna do intermediate??

Tough Team to pick not that many standouts all year. Excluded Ronan otoole as he wasn't as influential this year as he didn't need to be Lomans won all games with relative ease but he wasnt as influential as Darren Giles was to kinnegad Heslin played between 9 and 14 but couldn't leave out gaffney or Fleming.

Notable mentions I suppose : Tommy Ryan (tpass) Shane Dempsey ( Lomans ) ronan o toole ( Lomans) Peter Clarke (tpass). Connal mckiernan ( tang ) Gareth Carr ( Shandonagh ) Dan leech ( kinneagad) Harry Niall & Robbie forde ( moate ) efe siode ( shamrocks) Shane Allen (athlone)

The main question is how many players stood out that could be drafted into the county senior set up.

I would hope Sam Smyth from Killucan pushes on, Liam Daly from Kinnegad is worth a look as well as Shane Fleming, Joe Moran from The Downs has been solid for a couple of years & surely worth a go. Danny McCartan from Lomans has to be in the mix. Shane Allen from Athlone. Matthew Whittaker from TC, Ben McGauran from Milltown, Shane Corcoran from Malachys but I think he's still U20. Evan Gorman MTP & Cian Lee Multy also showed well, both still young but lots of potential.

We definitely need to be bringing in on a few young lads into to senior set up

Sam Duncan not available for next year. Huge loss he was really establishing himself as a very good county midfielder and added a bit of size to the team also. Hopefully most other lads still on board for next year as getting out of div 3 has to be the goal.

Huge lose to Milltownpass as he is massive for them they might never get over the line of Intermediate.

David Whelan for Macken.
Giles 100% needs to be in this team.
I wouldnt have Neary even though he played well all year but against the crunch against Tyrllespass he wasnt seen then took himself off when it got tough.
Luke Loughlin not in team of the year.
Darragh Lowry played well for Moate espcecially in first 3 games.
Heslin at midfield surely.
Shane Allen the best of Athlone all year, cant say much for the rest.
Caulry got to a semi but dont know if any on team of the year a few did well. Maybe There goalkeeper thought he was pretty good. Connolly and mccormack, the 2 bakers but didnt reach the heights expected against Kinnegad.
Denis Coroon was very good for Shamrocks unlucky to not go through
Scully from Shandonagh scored a few goals from full backline.

Anyone do an Intermediate or Junior team of the year.

Neary scored 2-2 against Tyrellspass and went off injured early in the second half. Hardly a case of he took himself off when it got tough. A bit of a ridiculous statement. Disappointing to see Tang not get many mentions from posters considering they won four games in the championship but it isn't a surprise as in fairness not many people would have seen those games as they never got a game in Cusack Park until their final dead rubber game against Shandonagh and only were shown once on Iarmhi TV which was in the quarter final. They had good performances this year to name a few, from Jack Keenan, Shane Hanley, John Rock, Conall McKiernan and their goalkeeper Eoin Coughlan was very solid all year, particularly from his kickouts. You wouldn't be expecting too many of them named in a team of the year and fair enough they did lose the game that mattered most in the quarter final but for a small rural club who were massive underdogs prior to the championship and most peoples favourite to get relegated they were a huge success story of the championship and to read someone flippantly dismiss the one player most people put in their team of the year saying he took himself off in a game when it got tough is very disrespectful.

Neary went off injured against Tyrrellspass actually and had scored 2-2 up until he was taken off. Im not sure but Id had hazard a guess and say that Neary was top scorer overall in the Westmeath championships this year. Tooler was excellent for Lomans but going by your logic he shouldnt be in the team as he wasnt seen in the final. Ridiculous comments.

Massive weekend for Lomans, away to Killoe will be tough and tight game expected against Longford champions. Not only are Killoe managed by Luke Dempsey but another former manager Declan Rowley is club chairman. Shane Dempsey hitting form and his availability could sway it for Lomans . They are also in the under 19 final and appear to be very strong (three sets of brothers McCanns, Kennys and Meehans ) having beaten Moate who won minor two years ago. They already contested the under 15 final and won the under 13, the conveyor belt on Delvin Rd keeps churning out talent.

I know Lomans have been beat by Longford opposition before but it will be an embarrassment for them if they lose on Sunday. Far better team on paper than Longford outfit.

If Lomans don't get to Leinster Final this year it will be a failure

Not one of your reasonable posts Temple. Killoe are a good team with lots of experience like St Lomans themselves. if Lomans win and hopefully they do then they play Naas or Summerhill in a semi final. That will be no easy task either, compared to Kilmacud who have Carlow/Wicklow/Louth winners on the opposite side. Clubbertv have St Lomans and Malachys games this weekend for anyone interested .

So your a massive follower of Longford football to know they have a better team on paper? your statement is very far fetched!

Ah would ya stop … whatever about saying Lomans should be beating killoe but to say it would be a failure to reach a Leinster final haha good one…. Naas by far a better Team " on paper " and on field than Lomans are could argue the same for summerhill.
Lomans will beat killoe and lose to naas & kilmacud will beat naas in the final.
Had shelmailers one decent forward the last day they would've beaten Lomans.
