Word on our forum that John Twaddle is taking over Mullingar Shamrocks.
He was in as trainer with us this year and we surprised everybody by making the Senior Final and only losing by a point.
He would be a big loss to us if true.

Very harsh comment. League performances were mixed but very competitive in championship and could easily have won all 3 Group games against Div 1 opposition.

Lomans - Same Management
Kinnegad- Same
Caulry - Vacant
T Pass - Not sure?
Athlone - Same
Tang - Keith Higgins will be staying in I'd say
Kilcucan - not sure?
The Downs - Vacant
Shamrocks - Vacant
Shandonagh- Not sure?
Moate - Same
Malachys- Same I'd say

Garrycastle - Vacant
Tubberclair- Vacant

Some massive jobs available across the county. In senior The Downs, Caurly and Shamrocks are great opportunities as all 3 teams have a chance over the next 2 years to contend for championships. In intermediate Garrycastle and Tubberclair are the two big jobs that are vacant. Two of these clubs will want to get out of intermediate quick!!!

From what I heard the Moate and Tang jobs are vacant too.

I was at the game in Cusack Park today , StLomans made hard work of it at times and I think the Wexford lads will be kicking themselves because they had plenty of opportunities
I didn't have a great view of the red card at the end but a lot of the talk at full time is that it was a very harsh red card, Shane Dempsey lomans best player on the day huge loss for them now.
Great weekend with our 3 teams winning their 1st round games hopefully atleast one of those will bring home Leinster silverware
Best of luck to the 3 clubs in their next round fixtures

St Lomans were probably lucky to be ahead at half time, played out similarly to county final when Kinnegad wasted lots of chances but credit to the champions they dug deep after that to get the win. Shane Dempsey was sent off for a heavy challenge so hell be a loss for the quarter final against Luke Dempseys Killoe on Sunday week. Well done to Malachys ,Kilbeggan and Milltown ladies also.

Are the minor and under 20 panels strong this year? I haven't heard much yet.

Good to see all 3 teams winning Leinster club championship games over the weekend, showing the comparative strength of club football in Westmeath. Although you'd expect them to have won against opponents from Kilkenny, Carlow and Wexford. It will be interesting to see how they progress over the next few weeks against stronger opposition.

So Loman's travel to Longford to play Luke Dempsey's Killoe on Sun 5th Nov.
See they are appealing Shane Dempsey's red card - relying on video evidence I presume.
Didn't see it so cannot comment.
A tricky fixture but you'd imagine Lomans will win despite Luke Dempsey's insights.
I see Foy is back and is guaranteed to come in soon after half time and Lomans do have a strong bench.

Malachy's are away to Johnny Doyle's Allenwood on Sat 4th and Kilbeggan are fixed to play Kildare's Ballymore in The Downs on the 4th also.

It was never a red card for Dempsey. Its Ballymore from Longford that Kilbeggan are playing.

Grand. Wasn't aware of a Ballymore club in Longford.
What was Dempsey's crime that allegedly warranted a red ?

I notice the regional games have kicked off in Meath where Junior and Intermediate club put forward players to join those from neighboring clubs to compete against each other. I think it started last year and was the brainchild of Colm O'Rourke to unearth some new talent from clubs outside the senior ranks.
Would such a concept work in Westmeath? Cant see why not?

It was a pull down that was a bit high but never should have been a red card. Maybe a black or a yellow, but everyone was shocked when he was shown red. It was a shame because he was the best player on the pitch from a neutral perspective. Will be a loss to Lomans

Surely it will be overturned on appeal if tv evidence available ?

Ballymore are the second club in Granard parish, around 3km outside the town of Granard.

Dempsey's appeal to Leinster Council underway, decent video evidence, clear cut case of red being overturned.

I believe Barry Conroy from The Downs and Curley from Shamrocks are part of the set up
