Replying To preddan:  "one of his parents is from Westmeath so westmeath didnt really "take him". you cant really compare glennon with the likes of John Mulhall playing with Kildare, David Reidy with Kildare, timmy hammersly with meath, sont think any of them had any connection with those counties"
And the goalkeeper from Dublin ?

I just don't see the point in it. If Glennon was playing with a club
in Westmeath, then fine, but he's not.

Yeah that's a good point. I believe one of his parents from athlone. Can't compare him to the other lads you've outlined. Seems to be well liked in the panel

Totally agree. If you are not playing club in that county then you can't play for the County team. On another note great to see such a big panel with all them young lads going in if true. Shows the excellent work done to get all them lads in with U20 last year.

On my point about the young lads going onto senior it was a shame to see Clonkill man Kevin O'Brien join Michael Fennellys backroom team in offaly as announced yesterday . He did a serious job last year. Had over 50 pads with panel. A huge loss Imo. Shrewd bit of work by Offaly to get him in all the same. Can only wish him the best of luck. Hopefully he will be back

Goalkeeper was gone at end of last season.

You probably missed the posts that say there are 12 from last years u20 team on the senior panel.

Yeah it is what it is. He was going to be snapped up. He did some job with Durrow in fairness.. A lot of people saying they were in relegation territory at start of year... Ended up just missing out on a srmi final spot. But great to see the young lads in with seniors

You seem to be a huge O'Brien supporter based on alot of previous posts. Surely he could have gone in with Joe Fortune instead of going in with Offaly, considering he did such a great job with U20's???? How did the U20's actually do this year?

They did well if 12 lads are gone senior. It is a development squad for senior. Maybe he wasn't asked in to the westmeath set up....

Judging by your two posts you seem to be anti him....... Very strange.. An agenda if ever I seen one

Based on previous posts Onion bagger was lashing out at Clonkill management & praising O'Brien in other posts. Now there's an agenda if ever there was one. I note your posts are usually followed closely to Onion baggers! Hardly the same person ;-)

Exactly my point. Develop the young players in your own county and no need for outside players.

Yeah well I'd say the new manager has a greater interest in bringing in younger players than the one he is replacing. O'Brien brought in the outside players.

Hopefully they get a good run in the Kehoe Cup & then a decent league campaign. Can't expect anything miraculous in the championship but will be good to see some of the top teams coming to Cusack Park for championship hurling.

Any Westmeath hurlers featuring on Fitzgibbon teams this coming year? I remember we had Killian Doyle for DCU a few years ago, Niall O'Brien/ Mitchell both featured for NUIG when they were there. Various lads on the DIT (TUD) team a couple of years ago too. Anyone know have we any this year? It's a good indicator of good players coming through. Great competition. Maybe Adam Ennis with Mary I depending on his injury situation?

I'd imagine all these young lads will be used in the Kehoe cup

And so they should be. Blood them in. Important we get out of div 2 and build from there.. Future looks bright.

County champions comprehensively beaten in Leinster club, minors beaten by Meath in minor championship, county championship dominated by three clubs, our schools not competitive even in B competition, we're competing in Division 2 and the Kehoe Cup, where's the basis for this optimism?
