How much did they hammer Ringtown by a couple of weeks ago?

Any word on new players joining senior County panel.
I believe 50 players coming in. A lot of last seasons U20 lads going in. Possibly up to 12 of the raharney starting 15 from County final..

Clonkill/Raharney/Castletown would have beat the pick of both teams

6/7 pts, I wouldn't call that a hammering

I'd imagine young players like Cunneen, Mulkearns, McCormack, Leech, Hickey, Gillen will be apart of them 50 players? Anyone else brought in? Conor Shaw and Shane Broughan of Cullion are talented players. 50 will be cut down to about 34 I'd say

Plunketts won comfortably but their aim next year will be to stay in Senior B. To say they should be senior reveals an ignorance of the local hurling scene. They obviously would be aiming for Senior status eventually but that's a bit away. They'll be up against it in Joristown on Saturday as the Kilkenny sides have monopolised this competition at national level since its' inception. Raharney have a tough task too, Kilmacud are a fine, athletic side, home advantage worth 2-3 points to Raharney but they'll need the equivalent of their county final performance.

"We know Senior B is another 7 points of a step up next year and we have to get up to that mark" - Oliver Plunketts manager.
You can't diminish their achievement in beating the Louth senior champions just because it was by a couple of points, they've just came out of the third tier of Westmeath hurling and are trying to build.

Yeah I agree. It's important for westmeath hurling that we have a strong town team. Eddie casey a good Plunketts man going in as selector with County can only be a good thing for Plunketts too.

Plunketts were 2 pucks of a ball away from a senior county title 8 years ago. They should not have been hurling 2 levels below that in 2021. They should be well fit for senior B in 2022.

Senior B is a really competitive grade and OliverPlunketts will definitely be in with a shout of getting out of it next year. If they can bring the momentum of winning intermediate this year and continue to improve there's no reason why they can't compete with anyone in the grade. Delvin will be favourites again to get out, with Adam Ennis returning from injury and a fully fit Josh Coll they are a good outfit. Daltons will of course be there or thereabouts too. Their doggedness makes up for their lack of hurling, but still with young McCabe, O'Rourke and Gilligan they have enough to win it. Dalystown showed this year that they can really compete with these teams, even with their footballing exploits, drawing with Cullion (should have beat them) and narrowly losing to Delvin. The Wood drop down from senior. They have some good young players like Bate and Brennan and still have O'Meara and Shane Mc working wonders for them but you'd have to question will they be able for turning around from a dire year and bouncing straight back up. They might well be able but I would expect some ptsd on the back of this year in senior a. Brownstown although having a poor year this year could easily have made a semi final but for a few 10 minute spells in games where they lost their way.

It's a long way away till next year but the point being that any of the teams could end up winning it/reaching a final if they hit some form. Plunketts will get a taste of the pace they'll need to reach when they play Mooncoin and I expect it to be beyond them, but they've some good young (and older) players and can improve enough to compete for next year's championship.

As for young players called up to the county squad I expect Cunneen to make his mark, Conor Shaw from Cullion and Luke Moore from Ringtown.

That's like saying Cork footballers won the All Ireland in 2010 and therefore should be contenders in 2020. Cork haven't been contenders in 4/5 years. Player turnover in 8/9 years could be major and in Plunketts' case it was.

Player turnover was their own fault, by most accounts.

Luke Moore is a talented young hurler, a very good ball winner. I thought Eoin Daly impressed throughout the club championship as well, hopefully he is part of that 50 man panel

Plunketts have an awful tough game at the weekend, Mooncoin got all the way to the all ireland in this junior one year and id fear for plunketts, i hope im wrong though. Id actually nearly give Raharney a bigger chance of an upset against Kilmacud, you can be guaranteed the kitchen sink will be thrown at the dub champs, Kilmacud are definitley a good side and i would have been more confident if Na fIanna had have come out of Dublin, but if Raharney can get over this one a leinster final appearance could be waiting, this game could be the crucial game in the leinster championship for both raharney and kilmacud crokes

Yeah the KK teams have a stranglehold on the junior level as someone alluded to previously. The sheer depth in their club c'ships is astonishing.

The senior Westmeath champions generally give a good account of themselves most years. On the day could put it up to any club side but I think Crokes will have their number. Seems so long since Clonkill won that Intermediate All Ireland now. What a breakthrough that was.

I think a lot of people including myself were expecting or hoping a big breakthrough by a westmeath club by now and they have been fierce unlucky since 2009 on occasions, clonkill in 2009,raharney in 2010,clonkill in 2011, ctg in 2013 and raharney against kilcormac another year.. Could have been all wins... If a carlow club could do it in 2013, I think westmeath clubs are capable but need a bit of luck to come their way for once

I think KK has similarly dominated Leinster intermediate too.

Wouldn't mind that result too much, Kilkenny champions will go on to win it out easily. Plunketts goal was to get up to senior B and continue to build from there. Their underage is coming good again too.
