Scrolled a few pages but couldn't see Westmeath hurling forum. It's a terrible new system but hey a big weekend in final rounds of both A and B championship with 4 in contention for 3 places in both competitions. Thoughts ?

Raharney straight to Co Final nothing else matters.

The usual three sides in contention as the championship reaches the knockout stages. Castletown looked quite impressive in a very one sided win over Castlepollard and they're likely to be serious contenders versus the losers of tomorrow's Clonkill vs Raharney match.

Yes, so winners of tomorrow's last group game between Clonkill and Raharney go straight into final. Losers will play Castletown. Just 1 semi final this year.

Great win for Raharney to seal place in county final. High quality game with superb scores. David Hickey and Luke Loughlin had huge games and Joe Fortune will definitely be trying to get both on his panel. Hickey man of the match, two points from wing back and superb overall. Rory Keyes a threat too with Sean Quinn and Robbie Greville good too while the big names with Clonkill were less influential than usual. Not often Clonkill lose two championship matches in succession at this stage, they finished with a stronger fifteen than started. Castletown vs Clonkill will be a close contest. Raharney have four weeks until county final and with no footballing distractions unlike the other sides will fancy their chances.

Luke Loughlin and Hickey the stand out performers, clonkill lost all threat when they made the substitutions and for me that's why they lost the match, they were completely on top and as soon as the subs were made they fell apart, they lost all Ariel threat and the subs coming in were never going to be a threat, they have better subs on the bench than the actual subs that were used,
Niall Mitchell for a big man was schooled under the high ball!
Castletown raharney final for me after this weekends showings.

The substitutions did seem strange, especially Andrew Shaw being subbed early on when their defensive problems were elsewhere. Easy to sub off a teenager rather than an experienced player!!!

Yet again a water break killed a teams momentum ……

Have to agree. Ii was at the game standing on the terrace with 5 other lads and we were all surprised at young Shaw being subbed when clearly two other defenders were clearly struggling with the pace of the game up to that point.

Totally agree. Talk about killing a young lads confidence when he had done very little wrong,

Yeah I agree. All not well in clonkill camp.. Going back to old failings of picking lads on waht they did years ago.. Murtagh been played out of position CTG v raharney final..

Wouldn't rule out a Clonkill win as they have had the upper hand on CTG recently. In saying that CTG have played some lovely hurling in the last two games and are starting to hit form at the right time. Liam Varley has been outstanding so far this year and corner forward Morgan Gavigan looks a proper player. 2-08 from play in the last two games , very powerful player and works well alongside Niall O'Brien, Aonghus Clarke and Co in that attack.

Clonkill surely do enough at the weekend at senior?

Delvin and Daltons at intermediete.

Ringtown to win the junior

I would say Castletown are the better hurling side, they have picked up form at the right time and are putting up huge scores. Clonkill on the other hand, are very good at grinding out wins but have lost their last two games. Castletown will be extra determined to get the monkey off the back with regards to Clonkill but the latter will know they have a good record against Castletown in recent times also. It's a very tough one to call but should be an excellent game.

Hard to call the senior B semi final between Cullion and Fr Daltons, they are quiet evenly matched. Delvin are my favourites to win the final though against either of them. The Intermediate final will be a close fought encounter, I'll go with Plunketts to shade it.

Castletown to win for me, they have a far better spread of scorers and play makers than clonkill, coupled with Varley and Clav going well in defence, but then again I am biased and Clonkill to their credit do have the better record against us.
For me tho over the championship this year, apart from Niall Mitchell ( who when on song can't be handled) scoring 3 goals in one game and very little if anything in any other game, their only consistent scorer from play is Anthony price scoring 4-5 a game , very few other players scoring, maybe Murtagh when he feels like it and Loughlin also coming back and causing trouble for raharney.
Egerton and Paddy Dowdall at the back need minding compared to every line in Castletown have lads that have been causing teams problems all year. Neil Kirby, Morgan gavigan and Ciaran o brien all scoring which takes pressure of our big names.
If Castletown keep the free count down it's one way traffic for me,
Castletown to win by 6+
