Any team in a Leinster club championship is going to be pretty good. The county they are from is irrelevant. Only 3 of the last 8 Senior clubs this year have reached Senior Leinster club finals in the last 4 years. They are from Carlow, Laois and Dublin.

Totally agree. If we get one team into a semi final it will be good.Remember its only in the past 5 years we are competing in all 3 championships.

Multyfarnham next week is the venue for the divisional trial matches. Great initiative by new management, surely will result in a couple of new players being discovered

Fair play Claretandblue and thanks for sharing as I was wondering when it would be taking place. By any chance did you hear if they've established teams? Who's joining up with who etc

Good news it is exactly the right moment to be doing this.

Has this been set up? Haven't heard of any players joining this yet. There is still u20 and junior hurling being played so I'm not sure This is the correct timing either

When would he have those trial games so? It's heading for late November as it is, trial games on Wednesday 20th, junior club hurling hardly impact much, teams barely training except odd session at weekends so a short trial game midweek is surely fine.

Have Castletown a full hand to pick from for Sunday, it would be the shock of the club championship if they could win but KK club and county teams have a knack of eeking out a win when under pressure

Great win for Westmeath schools over Offaly this evening in the Leinster A senior semi final. Having won this competition in junior earlier in the year it would be fantastic if we could do it at senior as well. Plenty of talent there at underage. Well done to all players and management.

I think they have everyone apart from Naoise McKenna? But may be wrong

When's the last time a Westmeath side won in Leinster senior club?

Not sure thomastown more pressure to win as they are 2nd or 3rd favourites to win the whole lot

They are favourites beat ctg but if ctg out OK good show that would be good. To win big ask but never know very unlikely but not impossible

Well done to Westmeath schools hurling team.
The significance of this is not to be underestimated, as I believe this is the first time that Westmeath has ever been in a Leinster hurling final at any grade ( There may have been a junior title back in the 1940s?)
I remember going to school at Mullingar CBS back in the 1980s and even though there were great hurlers from the Mullingar area hurling clubs as well as CastlePollard and CTG, the school was all about football only.
It was a huge shot in the arm at the time when the football team won a Leinster title and roundabout the same time the Westmeath minor football team made it to a Leinster final, backboned by the same cbs team.
This could be a huge boost and a kickstart for Westmeath hurling at underage level and beyond.
Young kids will be greatly influenced by this.

Westmeath schools defeated Kilkenny schools earlier this year in the Leinster junior A combined schools final as well. Completely different set of players to these lads which bodes well for the future. CBS Mullingar are doing phenomenal work and are backboning these county schools teams, they entered the Leinster junior A on their own for the first time this year, defeating Colaiste Eoin and Enniscorthy before being extremely unlucky to lose out to Kilkenny CBS by 2 pts and I believe their was a cynical foul at the death by a Kilkenny player to prevent Mullingar from snatching the win with a goal. Hopefully we will see all this come to fruition with our county minor team over the next couple of years. Along with the super work being done in CBS, its great to see current seniors Joey Boyle and Gary Greville being involved with the schools team.

You called it, all teams in Leinster knockout are good.

St Fechins from Louth bet Brownstown today in Leinster JHC.

The hurlers are there in the county
It was always about supporting the schools and putting a proper structure on the coaching across schools

The winners of the amalgamated schools competition qualify for the first round of the Leinster Colleges A senior hurling championship where they could be drawn against the likes of St. Kieran's Kilkenny, Colaiste Eoin Dublin or Kilkenny CBS. That level of exposure would be great experience for young Westmeath hurlers. The final of the amalgamated competition is a home game versus Laois schools or Dublin South. There was a huge crowd in Clonkill last night, great set of new lights there, Cormac McKeogh was outstanding with Kian Loughlin also excellent from frees and in general play, Darragh Kenny was back after injury and scored the clinching goal, they're missing Conor Leech whose injured but their panel is strong. Mullingar CBS had 10-11 starters last night with Kilbeggan, Rochfortbridge, Marist and Finian's also represented.

The clubs supplying so many talented players who have been taught the skills from the ages of 5-6 in nurseries and underage academies at club level deserve huge credit, Clonkill, Plunketts, The Gaels, Turin, Brownstown, Cullion, Crookedwood, Ringtown, all have players involved with the various schools teams, especially in the Mullingar CBS.

Without a doubt, the credit must go to these clubs and the people putting in the hard work. They are the ones supplying the talent and then their seems to be a good structure in place in Mullingar CBS in particular for them to continue to develop and improve.
