I have seen them theyve to step up and out into senior it's a jump from the intermediate club championship, and from what's going on in KK at the minute. Ballyhale nothing lasts forever and flying Colin fennelley in twice doesn't bode well for them. O loughlins were atrocious against Bennetsbridge in the semi final the Kerry man did all the damage for them in that. Twas a poor game to watch. Just because they're from KK doesn't mean they're unbeatable. Look at Doon against Ballygunner if they'd had an extra week they more than likely have won that game. I never said it would be easy for CTG but Thomastown are there for the taking. They might sleep walk into this thinking it's only a Westmeath team sure we'll bate them no probs. CTG grab it by the scruff of the neck and go for it. Play to win rather roll over and let them lord over them. 2maroonjerseys (Galway) - Posts: 99 - 05/11/2024 18:08:46 2578498 Link 2 |
Castletown need to be 10 points better tan they were in final to have a shout.Thomsdtown are 2nd favourites forAll Ireland. So lets not expect miracles but a huge performance whic might bring that miracle.

In my opinion they just need to be more clinical in front of goals than they were in the county final to be in with a chance. 1-27 was some scoring but they could have came away with 4-27. If you want to be in with a shout vs Thomastown everything has to go well, or almost everything.

Great effort by Mullingar CBS in semi final of Leinster A 2nd yr post primary losing so narrowly to Kilkenny CBS 4-16 to 3-21.Big wins against Stillorgan and Enniscorthy in Mulligars first year in premier.Great work.

Very narrow 2 pt loss. Great talented bunch, very unlucky today. We should have a good minor team next year. Best of luck to Westmeath schools senior said who take on Dublin tomorrow in Kinnegad in the 'A' championship quarter final.

When do the regional competitions start? westmeathgaa11 (Westmeath) - Posts: 297 - 07/11/2024 20:40:30 2578857 Link 0 |
Fantastic win tonight in Kinnegad, decent Westmeath team with lots of county minors from last year and this year, high scoring game with lots of talent on both sides, big chap from Marist Athlone at full back, accurate forwards in Conor Heffernan, Kian Loughlin, Padraig Casey and Cormac McKeogh, think they play Offaly schools next, good to see Joey Boyle, Gary Greville and Barry Kennedy involved as coaches. A massive game of hurling today in the under 16 semi-final in Division 2. It was a great game to watch from a neutral point of view. Both St.Brigid's and Fr.Dalton's have some seriously talented under 16s which has to be a positive for the county. Yellow&Green (Westmeath) - Posts: 51 - 09/11/2024 18:27:48 2579049 Link 1 |
And this is division 2.Premier semi final tomorrow in Joristown.A high quality Raharney team host an improving Clan Na Gael. Great win for Brownstown against Carlow champions in Leinster junior c/ship in Carlow. They are away to Louth senior champions next saturday.Good to see Conor Shaw played, the story i heard on county final day was he was going to Australia. jobber (Westmeath) - Posts: 1607 - 09/11/2024 21:14:59 2579061 Link 0 |
Good standard across the board now at underage in clubs and in the schools. A lot of great work being put in by dedicated people. It's also great to see the likes of Joey Boyle and Gary Greville managing the Westmeath senior schools team, they would know exactly what it takes to mix it with the best teams. It was a great win over Dublin, it'd be brilliant to get to the final after the Westmeath junior schools team won Leinster earlier in the year vs Kilkenny schools. Not forgetting CBS Mullingar super performances in their first campaign at "A" level. Plenty to be optimistic about!

Also well done to Brownstown on a great win away down in Carlow. Surely they fancy their chances away to the Louth senior champions. Dheen (Westmeath) - Posts: 959 - 10/11/2024 10:10:58 2579086 Link 0 |
Yes I agreed second level school hurling and indeed the hurling in primary schools is the key to success in Westmeath, it is opening up hurling to more lads and at a higher level. Back 10 or 15 years ago Division 2 underage hurling wasn't bringing on that level of skill and ability. I wouldn't know too many of the lads in the game yesterday but the likes of William Geraghty and Ricky Loren are as good of forwards you would see in any team playing with Dalton's too fine stick men. St.Brigid's have Dean Kelly who was unstoppable scoring 3-5 or 3-6 and Liam Weblin in midfield who was powerful, both under 16 next year. There was also some under 14 lads from county development squads playing and putting in solid performances like Liam Brogan and Tristan Duncan. Evan Dunbar who is the county under 14 keeper kept a clean sheet for St. Brigid's. Number 7 for St.Brigid's and Number 3 for Dalton's who were not on my radar previously done well also.. Huge win for CBS in the Leinster B hurling first round today, they won easily against Malahide. A very strong side on paper with the likes of Luke Meyler, Padraig Monaghan and Ted Ahearn not starting and Darragh Kenny out injured. Ten of the team started against Dublin North in Kinnegad last week. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1931 - 11/11/2024 17:50:36 2579263 Link 0 |

They were both involved in a tough game the day before so possibly rested for this one. The talent in CBS Mullingar is on another level. Plunkett's and Clonkill going well at 16 and Minor.

They were 11 to 7 down at half time until the Carlow team got their best player sent off. You'd imagine the standard of club hurling in Louth would be very poor, so Brownstown should get the win up there easy enough and then they into a semi-final. they might not be as bad as everyone says, plunketts didnt beat them by much a couple of years ago and they have bet the likes of dunderry and other teams in quarter finals comfortably and lost semis narrowly.

Id say this could be a battle.I remember they gave Plunketts plenty of it for 50 minutes three years ago.Its hard to know if they have progressed but it wont be easy for Brownstown or Daltons and we all know Castletown will have to produce a great performance to be competitive with the bookies 2nd favourites for the All Ireland.
