Yes perhaps he thought Lettermore was close enough to Aran!

How they blew that against inferior opposition will haunt Dunmore in the months ahead.

Corofin crying out for Ian Burke up front today but don't think he was there at all even though he was named on the panel.

Fairly ridiculous statement. I think 5 of the starting Dunmore 15 were U19 and they had one U18 playing. Naomh Anna probably a more physical, and also a more experienced outfit. They have couple of players who've played senior with Galway in the last 2/3 years too, Seán Andy & Barrett. Fair play to Naomh Anna, but I would say dunmore are an emerging team that will get better in the next few years.

I don't think it would have made much of a difference, to be honest. MM were dominant all over the pitch. Their work-rate was excellent and Corofin struggled with their physicality. The quality of ball going into the Corofin forwards was poor, due in large part to the pressure being applied further out the pitch.
They were clinical enough to make their dominance count on the scoreboard too.
I'm delighted for them after all the near misses.
Commiserations to Corofin. They just couldn't get into the game.

I call it as I see it, Dunmore were superior opposition. I expect Litir Mor spell in senior football will be short lived based on yesterday's evidence.

Yes, congrats and well deserved.
Looking from a county viewpoint, did we seen anything in the club championship to give hope for the future?

A 'superior' attitude never wins matches! It's quite simple really, the team that scores the most is the better team. Take it on the chin and move on.

Superior in what way? There was very little between the teams, which is the case most years for a lot of teams in intermediate.
It's usually a very competitive championship.

Lads relax, just an opinion. Were all entitled to it.

Scoreboard that's fair enough, it's just sometimes the best teams don't win. I think that was the case of Saturday in my opinion.

Overall a good championship and , I would have to say well run, by the county board.
Some observations

1. Corofin have obviously come back in to the pack and while you would expect them to rebound and probably win more titles , the days of winning 3 or 4 in a row are, most likely, behind them.

2. Part of the reason for this is down to some Corofin disimprovement / retirement of key players ,but part is due to the fact that a number ( probably 5 or 6) of teams stepping up a notch.

3. The draw was a bit lop-sided with most of the 5 or 6 teams above in the opposite half of the draw to Corofin. Would there be merit in seeding the championship draw further with teams being assigned pots ( based on League position or otherwise) like the way World Cup qualifiers are done? This would increase the relevance of League and would ensure competitive games from QF stages onwards.

4. This years final result has in a way validated Moycullen's achievement last year. Pre this years final there was a school of thought that Mountbellew caught Corofin on the hop and that Moycullen won the title without beating Corofin ( a little bit like back in the day winning a golf major when Tiger Woods was injured) . The unfortunate thing for Moycullen is that they didn't get the opportunity to play in Connacht / AI series.. I think the GAA missed an opportunity to open up this years comp to the county champions from both years. At most it would have meant 1 extra round ( and maybe not even that as in several counties there will be repeat winners).

5. Not too many new or exciting young players emerged from the pack that we didn't know about. Many of the top performers were current or recent county panelists . It is critical that we get all our top performers back into county panel. We can blend the younger players in then but we don't have enough high performers in the county to have several of them not on the panel for one reason or another ( Michael Daly, Eoin Finnerty , Dylan Wall, Adrian Varley are a few names that spring to mind)

Great win by MM - congrats and well deserved after so many near misses. In saying that I have to say that is the poorest I have seen Corofin play in about 25 years! There was no machine like zest or clear game-plan which had become their trademark. Gary Sice and Ian Burke were always 2 of the main creators and finishers of many of their best moves at their peak and helped others like the Farraghers and Lundy get onto the scoreboard regularly too so without them they seemed leaderless / rudderless.
