Gutted. Showing well and lots of positives but gutted nonetheless.

Anyone think that Glenn is picking the wrong team…. Woodgate, Kevin o Callaghan, Archibold not good enough for that level…..can't understand why he is switching his goalkeeper each game too…. Crazy that paddy McDermott Neil Flynn and Eoin Doyle haven't been playing

Neill Flynn and Eoin Doyle both recovering from an injury. Can't say O'Neill hasn't done well in all his games and we've now two keepers with big game experience in the event the other gets hurt. Don is still no.1 but now O'Neill is a ready replacement. Paddy Mc hadn't been ahead of the starting wingers at training I heard but he is a good shout, still possibly a bit light though.
Kev O Callaghan looked very good in midfield in the early games but I agree wasn't at the races in the past couple of games and Neill should slot right back in when fit to do so.

Paddy Woodgate I think is harshly done by here.. would you rather Dan Flynn? The Monaghan game was the best full forward line performance I'd ever seen from a Kildare team.

A few of us stayed over after the Westmeath game to have a look against Monaghan, have to admit we were impressed, he has an ideal panel, ideal lads in key positions, he is almost there with balance, I have no idea why Paddy McDermott Neil Flynn and Eoin Doyle haven't been playing, also I think his idea is to rotate the keepers, Woodgate scored 3 good points difficult enough, Archibold is a key player, a bundle of energy, a live wire and good at his job I think anyway. I wasn't at the Mayo game so I can't explain why it fell flat, I think Kevin O Callaghan is physical he won't be bossed or pushed around he is at least worth his place on the panel imv.

Agree with you on the goalie rotation but happy enough with selection other than that. Maybe no 6 position for EOIN Doyle when fit. I like Woodgate, has a bit of attitude along with the skill and work ethic.

Best of luck to the Naas hurlers against Ballyhale this weekend. A lot of work gone into hurling in Naas over the last 20 years and it's great for hurling in the county to have a club competing at the highest level.

This is a pretty quite thread.

What is happening Kildare this year? I didn't see this coming - i thought Kildare would be up there pushing for promotion, or at least be a solid third after being unlucky to get relegated last year.

I've seen comments son social media around the need to get rid of Glen Ryan already. Its seems a bit hasty to do something like that mid season but I'm curious about what people here think?

Great story about Kildare Hurling on the RTE sports section of their website. I hope you beat Kerry and Offaly and get promoted. Hon Kildare!

Well done to Kildare. A great win. Very disappointing for Kerry. We seem to have regressed a little but Kildare on the up. Congrats!

Where are Kildare going to play their home game in the Group stage?

No point sugar coating that. Absolutely dismal result in what was a must win game. Seems clear that the Dublin game was the exception in what has been a year of awful performances. Struggling against division four opposition is more of a measure of our slide than the performance in Croke Park. We're heading for some bad beatings later in this championship and will struggle to retain division two status next year with no home games if something doesn't change

Is there an issue with Daniel Flynn or just not deemed good enough? Seemed to be flying yesterday in the warm-up but never used tho the Kildare forwards were struggling.

I wouldnt be too despondent about the future of Kildare football for a few reasons.

1. You argue that it might have been a once off performance v Dublin. I dont accept that , you dont put in a performance like that without having a very very good team.
2. Great underage coming through
3. Yes you can argue that Sligo performance was poor but Sligo are evolving well and they are a Division 3 team now. I also felt that the scoreline in the Sligo Galway game was a bit unfair on Sligo and a lot of little things went against Sligo that day that could have made it a lot closer.. I think also that the scoreline in the Connacht Final might have sparked a bit of complacency on Kildare behalf.
4. I think Kildare will still get through to qualifiers ( even if it is on score difference) ye should plan on at least 3 more championship games this year ( maybe more) and build on these for 2024 ( or even 2023).

Don't beat yourselves up. Sligo are a decent unit. They have serious pace all around the field. They might just give Roscommon and Dublin a fright. I still see Kildare as favs to take 2nd or 3rd spot
