Some very good posts in the last few day's.
All making some good points.
For me the fact that our senior hurling team is so strong at the moment, 2 - 3 new players coming in every year should mean our stock wouldn't fall to dramatic. Aldo accept there will be a drop off. Hurlers in Carlow in the most part tend to stay with the game and maybe play above their ability, especially Mullins, Myshall And Rangers.
Very Good point made earlier, if we haven't player's coming from those areas we are in trouble as with the minors yesterday.
Think on that front the table's will turn in the next year or two, especially with the Myshall lads.
They seem to have a lot of players with foals, colts and are back competing in A hurling again as are St Mullins.
It's great getting less traditional clubs up to speed, but really important not to take our eye off the ball in the more traditional clubs.
Would be a great start if they really targeted Borris School and got them back competing at A level again.
As Donal Og said last year
" Now is the time to put Carlow hurling on steroids"
We will wait and see.

Replying To Collio:  "Well I don't think accepting mediocrity is a good idea either. If you put a local in charge who isn't up to it players won't commit and we'll go from mid table to being the worst team in the country. People don't want to play for carlow, look at Wicklow with Oisín McConville I know they're going poorly this year but if Carlow got someone with a name like that in at least you would attract all the players to come in. I agree the money has to go into underage too but if young people see there senior being hammered every week they won't stick with football they'll go to other sports or just won't bother at all. To be fair to the hurlers they do make it somewhat more appealing to play for them"
Wicklow got relegated today with Oisín McConville.

Carlow beat them in the Tailteann last year. In Aughrim.

As I understand they have invested a lot in their senior football team. And for what? To play in Division Four again next year?

Go figure.

Yes a big loss, but the league was what we were aiming for this year, I think any lad who gets the opportunity to travel and play some ball should grab it.

Some other positives as I see it is the emergence of Burren Rangers, it may take years before they become a force, but good nonetheless. Also the reorganisation and work put in by Bagnelstown GAA has seen their contribution to both senior teams improve across both codes. Tullow is a black spot, maybe someone au fait with what is going on there might update, I think it has a bigger population than Btown. In Carlow I think an honourable mention should go to Askea GAA, they have built connections with different parts of the community who would not have been traditional base,, while a small club well done to them. Still a huge amount of work to be done, but it's not all bad.

I stated they were going poorly, but that a big name to get everyone in would go a long way. But you know all, the Mighty Carps should be the next football manager in my opinion. Has all the answers and is never wrong so don't see how it could fail

Better performance yesterday from the footballers.
I appreciate that London are.not top.of Div 4 and find it difficult to have the same team out for each match.
We created a lot more scoring opportunities and went for scores from further out as well. Of course we had some poor wides but we had very few scorable frees, so our tally was mostly from play.
A positive day.

Imagine if it was a tighter game and we had the option to introduce a fit Darragh Foley with 15/20 mins to go, might be the way forward.

Reply to his point collio rather than your silly facetious response.

Don't like being too negative but that wasn't even London's first team yesterday. Our lads are game to the last but with Jordan now gone the quality just isn't there unfortunately. Mikey bambrick head and shoulders above everyone again yesterday.

Hi, I am going to be moving to just outside the town in the next little while. I'm coming from a club that has a Dads and Lads football team. Just wondering is there any Dads and Lads set ups anywhere in the town as I'd like to keep it up ? Thanks

Who is not in that this putative big name could attract?

Can you name some potential players who would be swayed by a McConville type figure?

Just back from tonights u20 opener versus Laois. For long periods in the first half looked like a win was on the cards. But a real sickner of a goal before half time meant we went in level. Conditions were poor but when you only score 3 points in the 2nd half u prob dont deserve much. Honest effort but the difference was Laois took their goal chances. We must beat Wicklow next week to have a chance of progressing.

More laois heartache tonight. We were competitive for most of the game gave away some sloppy goals and missed a penalty late on. Not sure who they meet next

You would expect it to be competitive anyway. Probably a bit of a gap from us then to the next group

Apparently we are the weak group according to a poster on the Wicklow thread, who describes us both as hurling counties. Not sure why he left Laois off that, they would be more successful at hurling also.

Jigger is 100% right. The goal just before half time was a massive sickener after we dominated possession and scored well.
A decent performance none the less and Laois were able to get enough possession and score their goals as well as put our forwards under immense pressure when shooting.
This did result in a penalty being given to Carlow which was not converted.
Laois were down to 14 after a definite black card as well.
Overall, a positive performance in often brutal condituons.

Yes it's the same at minor. Carlow wexford and wicklow playing each other every year two come out of that and get hammered, would be far better to decouple underage from the provincial system and have a B all ireland where we could play a variety of other weak counties

Players aren't being developed in under 13s 14s 15s only emphasis is on minor where they get hammered
