Replying To dave1988:  "That's been going around the last few weeks but can't say if any truth in it or not. Personally I think it's not true unless he has left Monaghan and Roscommon have made him an offer he can't refuse. I would have thought Cunningham would have all this sorted by now and maybe he has. I also heard which I hope isn't true that one of the under 20s backroom team is going in with Cunningham. Again could be all nonsense. From speaking to a few lads on the under20 team they weren't overly impressed with the set up last year and getting to an all Ireland final was down to having a very good team and not so much on the management or coaching. So for the seniors Cunningham needs to get it right."
Very strange comments in relation to u20 set up considering they were within a kick of a ball in winning an All Ireland title and probably would have won it were it not for the 7 day turnaround and the event of a funeral of a close relation for one key player in the days leading up to final. I daresay those comments were from disgruntled players or parents of sons who didn't make the team. The club championship fairly confirmed the team selections.

Buckley is not coming to Roscommon and Poacher is confirmed for next season along with a Dublin based coach from St. Vincent's. No local based men appointed yet and all the u20 management are back with u20s with one possible addition. There is some doubt whether Wally Burke who appeared to be the man in the stand this year for the u20s will be back as he has two years done with them and is still involved with his own club.

There was some talk of Gary Connauggton coming in as goalkeeping coach for both teams which would make good sense and he is very well got with whatever team he is involved in. He was with the u20s in 2020.

Replying To endgame:  "That can't be right. I know there are rural parts of North Roscommon that will struggle with numbers but places like Castlerea and Strokestown have the population catchments to be a lot better than they are.I just doubt their structures are as good as the southern clubs. Castlerea should be a senior club."
True but they haven't been winning much underage the last decade . Strokestown have had some underage success in fairness but for the most part Northern Ros clubs have had little success until amalgamations came into being . Maybe Boyle could buck the trend this weekend in the u 17 A title final . Castlerea always produced great footballers but are still a bit off getting out of the quagmire that is intermediate . As I said earlier many clubs in the southern end of the county have the luxury of fielding two under age teams in competitions. Simply down to population .

Two intriguing U17 county finals this weekend. Not sure why they aren't a double in Hyde Park and why the Div 2 finalists had to wait a month for their final to be played.

Div 2 up first tomorrow in Hyde Park

Kilbride v Kilmore/Shannon Gaels

Kilbride the likely favourites here having topped the Div 2 table however the one match they lost was at home to Kilmore/Shannon Gaels

On Sunday the Div 1 final is between Roscommon Gaels v Boyle

Results was all over the place in the Div 1 group, the amount of stoppages and rescheduling didn't help. The only consistent team was Michael Glaveys Eire Og who won every group game then got hammered by Roscommon Gaels in the semi final. Meanwhile this group of Boyle players have already won the U16 County title so are looking for a double.

The group result between the sides at the end of September was 0-11 to 1-8. Plenty of county U17 players on both sides in DJ Hession, Senan Lambe, Ryan Conlon, Ethan O'Reilly, Niall O'Donnell, Daniel Casey, Eden Kerins etc.

Hard game to call hopefully the weather for Sunday is as good as promised and we get a good quality Div 1 final.

Poacher back again?
We won't be troubling the scoreboard operators much so.

Bit of a myth, Carlow when coached by Poacher their most impressive win was against Kildare and they scored 2-14 in that win.

Regardless of coach Roscommon first and foremost need to sort out their defensive issues, at least make yourself difficult to score against and cut out the many individual errors.

Outstanding Div 1 minor final congrats Roscommon Gaels and hard luck Boyle.

Game of two halves with Roscommon Gaels leading by 9 points at the break and Boyle winning the 2nd half by 8.

Match was level at the 2nd water break with all the momentum with Boyle. Once the game restarted MOTM Ryan Conlon scored a 2nd goal for the Roscommon Gaels. That was basically the winner and difference. The quality of the game was very good up there with the best county minor finals i seen in recent years.

Stephen Poacher tonight has confirmed that he will not be part of Anthony Cunningham's backroom team for next season.

Donie Buckley has been apparently approached, remains to be seen if he accepts this time.

Poacher says his goodbyes to Roscommon on social media.
Other unreliable rumours of more changes to the backroom.

Is there many/any managerial changes in the clubs?

Leagues are still being played out I suppose but some clubs may have some difficult decisions to make!

Backroom team picked. Thoughts on it? Luke Bree Noel Dunning Peter Tormey and Derek Duggan. Can't say I know anything about Luke Bree.

Steven Poacher, Mark Dowd, Iain Daly and Dara Bruen gone and their replacements Sligo man Luke Bree who's been coaching in Dublin in recent years, Noel Dunning St Aidans club man with many decades of service to London GAA, Peter Tormey a Westmeath man teaches and coaches in Moate school.

Our own Derek Duggan who been involved in the county and club management scene in Longford and Leo Tierney a very experienced goalkeeping coach from Mayo.

No real high profile names there but the type of freshening up on in the management team that was likely required before the panel start training in a few weeks.

Happy that changes have been made as we did not progress last year, don't know much about the coaching credentials of the above but hoping Seniors can integrate a few of the U-20's and bring fresh energy to the group

Luke Bree is a former Sligo footballer, lives in Dublin and ended up playing for St Vincent's was part of their 2014 All-Ireland winning panel, has been a St Vincent's coach since he retired.

Glad to see changes to backroom team but apart from Brees I wouldn't be too confident on the others. Mostly underage involvement and school coaching and one of them more defensively minded than Poacher ever was and that's with young lads.

Apparently it was not easy to get people to get involved as a number of persons were approached.

Hearing some of the u20s called up including some of the u20s for next year which is ludicrous but I'm not surprised. County Board should have been brave after the defeat to Galway and looked for a new manager. A lot of the 24-27 year olds from current panel not available next year. Having said that there are lots of players at a good age fit to play inter county if they want e.g Kennelly from Faithleachs mom in intermediate final, Eoin McCormack from Dominics, Flynn from Tulsk, Carey from Pearses, Jack Connaughton from Clann, Butler from Pearses also, McGann from Strokestown to name but a few.

None of the new management will know the club scene in Roscommon. One maybe who is from Aidans but it would only be on his own clubs matches.

I wish them all the best of luck and have to be given a chance but I fear 2022 could be a depressing year at adult level..

Next year's u20s should be left fully with u20 panel till their season ends.
This will be early enough at it seems u20 is going back to a Spring competition.
Which is a pity as the best football I saw this year was the Sumner u20 games in all the Provinces and the AI games .
Anyway best of luck to our Senior panel and management and hope they can recover from the 2021 disaster.

Derek Duggan should know the club scene fairly well as would the manager based in Roscommon with his son playing for St Brigids. The rest would be involved for coaching. Who is the defensively minded? Roscommon need to sort out their defence more than any other area.

No harm introducing U20s to the senior set up what would be wrong is not allowing lads that are U20 next year to play in the U20 championship.

Duggan is a roscommon legend but from talking to him in the recent past he doesn't keep up with the club scene in Ros.
