Replying To Seanfanbocht:  "We were loose enough when it counted last June too.
That's 3 Competitive (real games) on the trot lost."
Last year we looked a tired team for the last two championship games. And from it we started to make mistakes we didn't do in the previous league and championship matches last year.

Yesterday was different, missing some key defenders and collectively we were just very poor defensively. It was like some sort of zonal marking we were at that made it all too easy for Tyrone to clock up 17 scores and I'll be surprised if they score as much in remains league games as they be up against teams that make themselves harder to score against.

I hope we go back to basic in the terms of defending this Sunday as if not Comer, Walsh, Finnerty and Co will score for fun on Sunday in Hyde park.

Zonal defending aka marking space.
Space never scored in any game ever.

Aren't you supposed to mark/tackle/harrass a man coming in to your zone?

Think they are missing a few of the big boys, Kelly and McDaid are out and Comer and Walsh are doubts, could be a good time to be playing them and need to make it count.

That is true but they need a reaction like ourselves after last weekend. Essential we try to win as many of our home games as possible.

Our forward line lacked a lot of pace last weekend and I wonder was that some of the reason why Tyrone were able to get so many scores, as in lads just not able to track back. And even from our own attacking point of view, quite slow. We really miss Cian McKeon in that department. D Cregg looks like a lad that can break at speed but we do seem to lack pacey forwards.

I previously mentioned that I hoped we had played some challenge games on grass. After last weekends game we clearly haved not. the sending of it looked liked we were down to 14 men. Why were we not carrying a larger panel for fbd, when we knew we lost quality players before the season started. You cannot replicate playing on a hard surface when mgt knew that Tyrone pitch would be heavy this time of year. I am not trying to be critical but the way the season is now structured you have to up and running very quickly(monaghan, derry, donegal). I just hope with brigids lads back, smith and harney that we can maintain d1 status.

A good time to play them , Shane Walsh is a major Doubt , will be assessed later in the week and wont train this week. Cian Hernon is also out for the rest of the league. McDaid is also out for the league . I think the Galway midfield is one area we can exploit and dominate. This is a massive 4 Point game. A win for us and it will boost confidence before a trip to play Dublin. The looser of this game will struggle to stay up , even after 2 games. That is how tight it is in division 1.

Galway after a defeat against Mayo will the media criticism in their ear all week is rarely a good time to play them.

Walsh picked up a slight knock on the last scored free he scored at the weekend and even if he doesn't play Cillian Ó Curraoin who scored 0-10 against Roscommon recently can come in.

Midfield for Galway will likely be John Maher, Paul Conroy and Tierney also dropping back, Roscommon without the likes of Harney, O'Rourke, Nolan are not going to get close to dominating that area.

Sean Kelly, Liam Silke are the one I'd be naming as missing than Cian Hernon who hasn't established himself at senior county level yet.

Good 8 point win for UCD over the University of Galway tonight. (1-14 to 1-6). Daire Cregg with 3 points and Ben O Carroll played for about 20 minute. A few Galway seniors playing with UCG. UCD have a serious team this year and could go all the way. Heading out to Grangegorman in a few minutes to see if Shane Cunnane or Conor Hand make an appearance for TUD.

St Brigids players togged out for their colleges tonight. UCD, UL and Maynooth into the semi finals who have Roscommon players in their ranks.

Many of the county GAA players in University are on sports scholarships. As a result there is a psychological contract (expectation) that they would play in the Sigerson Cup for their universities unless they are injured. Hopefully most of the Roscommon players will make themselves available for selection this Sunday. For example: both Canavan brothers played for the University of Ulster last night against TUD, as did county players all over the country. It is up to manager of all the county teams to determine if they are fit/fresh enough for county action next Sunday. The Sigerson Cup semi finals involving several Roscommon players are on next Thursday (8th February) with the final provisionally fixed for Wednesday 14th February, 3 days before the Dublin match. Those sigerson matches are serious matches (county standard) and take a lot out of players.

Have named a team with Enda Smith coming in for Conor Cox. More changes than that expected come throw in.

Galway have named a team that won't start either and fellas not named on the 26 will probably end up starting. Wouldn't recommend anyone forking out 4 euro on a program this Sunday.

Are brigids lads back.. I heard during the week Shane Walsh was injured and might need surgery? I'd be hoping for stack in for Flynn Ben in for Lennon and Fallon in for Higgins and move McCormick back into the corner.

Yes it's a pity if they're missing. Thought Stack might be back as he is Roscommon captain and we need a win on Sunday. Some of the lads filling in are not good enough unfortunately as last Sunday showed. Galway are named without Comer and Walsh which is good news for us. Both and maybe Comer in particular have done damage to Roscommon in the past.

Gave up buying programs after downloading the Score Beo app. Real time information. (Teams, substitutes, scores, scorers, yellow/black/red cards etc)
Personally think that once managers nominate their 26 players for the program, they should have to stick with those 26 players on the day. D'ont have a problem managers changing it around a little bit if a player is injured during the warm up / not feeling well. People buying a program deserve to know who is on the field.

None of the Brigids lads bar Dolan on the named 26. Time will tell if that changes.

Comer is expected to start on Sunday. Shane Walsh picked up a muscle injury, talk of surgery is not true.

A few Brigids players was playing for their colleges on Wednesday so can't be at training on the same night with Roscommon.

Comer isn't named in the Galway 26.
