In hindsight it might have been better if we had the two best 3rd placed teams in their groups play North and West Roscommon in a play off with the winners then into the quarter final.

Before the championship started I fancied a Pearses v Brigids county final, yes Pearses weren't convincing last weekend however they always seem to have a performance like that in them and then click into gear in the next game. Clann appear to be the main team that might stop that final from happening and they'll truly show their credentials if they are to take out last years county finalists next.

Roscommon Gaels will likely turn their game into a war of attrition which won't suit Oran at all. They have some of the best forwards in the county championship but any forward line is only as good as the amount of ball that's played into them or allowed to be played into them. Without their best midfielder makes thing more difficult for Oran.

At intermediate level Eire OG are capable of reaching another final but I'm thinking like Oran,Doms,Tulsk experienced before they'll likely have to suffer another final defeat, Elphin will be determined to bounce straight back to senior and usually the best time to do so but while good against a struggling Creggs the alarm bells was ringing in their performance against a youthful Castlerea. Fuerty I feel will be team to beat only lost out narrowly to the eventually champions the last few years a lot of experience in their team and thus far the top scoring team at intermediate level and conceding under 10 points per game.

For Junior A hopefully one of St Michael's,Kilglass win that county title and we'll have winning team going into the provincial championship but I'm think we could well get a repeat of last year with another B team winner, Pearses last year and Clann this year.

Good point about the format re the Regional teams.
I fear were heading for the usual all South Semis and Final which won't help the Co Boards coffers.
Inter will be it's usual exciting closing stages with Fuerty and former big club Castlerea the 2 leasing candidates here.

Junior, please a first team winner.

Question -should B teams have their own Championships?

If we want improved the overall quality of Junior Championship - B teams regardless even if in intermediate championship should be in Junior Championship. Its happened a few times where the runner up in the Junior a final has gone on to represent Roscommon in Connacht. Its sound a bit harsh but it may help historically junior clubs up there game in terms of fitness etc against senior clubs young lads who have more than likely have always played div 1 at underage level

It will be interesting to see how the divisional teams get on in the quarter finals - one would fear two big results for brigits and pearses which could spell the end of the divisional teams.

I think the divisional teams should have to play the 2 best 3rd placed teams going forward, with top 2 teams in each group going through to quarter finals. St. Faithleachs will feel hard done by, having only lost to Boyle by 2 points and Ros Gaels by a point for their championship to be over. Another year would have seen them in a quarter final spot. Similar to Dominics who I am sure would fancy their chances beating either divisional team.

Roscommon Gaels will find it tough against Oran who are a young side full of quality players and a tight knit group, Ros Gsels will have to drag the game to their level for a result here. Clann and Boyle has the potential to be a great game, Boyle look to be coming good at the right time while Clann have been putting up big scores all year.

Strokestown could be in bother if they lose to Glaveys - Western Gaels have been down the relegation road before ad will fancy beating either team in a one off game to keep their senior status. Hopefully Strokestown can avoid relegation (has this ever happened before to the reigning county champions?) - Intermediate in Roscommon next year will be a tough place to be with the current crop of teams and then adding in Strokestown, Glaveys or Western Gaels.

Think Ros Gaels have beaten Oran in 3 of the last 4 games when you include the league game and league final so I think 'drag it down to their level' is slightly disrespectful to them

Crazy messing going on with the ladies management. Management were informed by county board that up to 17 players were contacted about if they would play under current team next year and all said no. Turns out, no current member of the panel was contacted. How do county board expect to make any progress with that messing going on?

What a shambles this is turning out to be.
Previous manager did not last a year after being outed by players and co. board. That manager then goes on to win an all-ireland intermediate title with Kildare.
There are no lessons being learned here. Very poor treatment of the current management who are all respectable individuals in their own right. Also poor treatment of the current players as it now becomes apparent that there has been no consultation with them about this decision.
Who are the Development Committee in Ros. LGFA because they have been fairly invisible for the past few years and then pop up out of no where to bring the Ladies team into the spotlight again.

Interesting intermediate Quarter Final Draw done this afternoon. Padraig Pearses B V Shannon Gaels
Elphin V Fuerty, St Brigids B V Castlerea St Kevin's
Eire Og V St Croans

Should be the end of the road for the B teams and then Castlerea in their current form should be able to beat Shannon Gaels in semi final

A lot of the contenders on the other side of the draw. Fuerty v Elphin will likely go to the wire, Eire Óg should edge Croan's but might come stuck in the semi final against Fuerty.

Junior A championship Quarter Finals

Kilglass Gaels V St Barrys
St Michaels V Roscommon Gaels B
Clann na nGael B V Ballinameen
Strokestown B V St Ronans

Kilglass, Michaels and Clann B should win their Quarter finals. On paper the last tie looks the closest but I'd fancy last years finalists to win.

Possible Semi-Finals should be two competitive contest between Kilglass v Michaels and Clann B v Ronan's

Glaveys retain their senior status with a hard earned one point win, Andy Glennon top scorer and Cathal Heneghan back from injury to pop over important score in the 2nd half.

Strokestown v Western Gaels relegation final now. Strokestown chances won't be helped with McGann not playing today and losing Colm Neary to a long term injury during the week.

Big win for Elphin, holding Fuerty to 1-2, impressive as they were the intermediate top scorers coming into today's game. Good win for Pearses B over Shannon Gaels the two goal before half time was key in that 2-6 to 0-8 victory.

Castlerea and Eire Og into semi finals but pushed hard by both Croans and St Brigids the latter might be thinking what if they converted the penalty to put them 6 points in front. Castlerea solid and mean in defence this year.

Elphin v Eire Og now make for a very interesting semi final where the winner will likely be favourites to win the county title.

In Junior Clann needed extra time to overcome Ballinameen it's last years finalists they'll meet in the semi final. St Michael's and Kilglass should be a good semi final whereby the winner will fancy their chances to winning the final.

Finally It's Aidan who drop to Junior a sad day for the club who not that long ago was a senior club that held their own at that level, hopefully they can bounce back. Well done to Creggs for stay up.

Aidans in decline for a few years now.

Awful sad news of the death of the Creggs physio who took ill after the game.
May Oleg rest in peace.

Gaels, Pearses, Brigids & Clann for semis? Restoration of the southern power base perhaps. Interesting quarters, even if most think the divisional experiment is doomed there will be still big interest to see how both teams go.

I think those 4 will be the senior semi finalists but it wouldn't be the Roscommon championship if a surprise result or two happened. I'm thinking next year divisional teams will play one of the 3rd placed group teams than going into the Quarter final. Most interesting thing to see this weekend will be how many Elphin,Eire Og,Castlerea,Kilglass and St Micks players make themselves available with big semi finals coming up for their clubs.

Boyle v Clann is hard to call. Really looking forward to that one. The divisional teams aren't being given much of a chance. Roscommon gaels might edge Oran but again tough one to call.

Elphin well represented on the West Roscommon team and panel. Just two Castlerea players to feature should be 4 or 5 if they were to pick their best panel. Eire Og have none and St Micheals with just one whos named on the bench for North Roscommon those clubs have clearly convinced their players to avoid these matches this weekend.

Killgass and Ronans with semi finals coming up have plenty of players named to play for North Roscommon

Only two of the senior quarter finals to be streamed this weekend so i'll probably attend the two that aren't streamed and watch the other two later. I also hope to attend the U16 Div 1 final between Croan/Oran and Castlerea tomorrow, about 8 to 10 players from those three clubs will be on the county U17 panel next year.
