If Fitzmaurice is confirmed, I really hope he brings in his own management team and that we don't simply see people from the previous setup retained again. There are one or two who, in my opinion, have been held in far higher regard than their contribution has warranted, and if some of the names being mentioned here are involved again, it risks becoming more of the same. What's needed now is a genuine clean slate. A completely fresh management team with no previous loyalties, biases or preconceived ideas about individual players or particular clubs. Every player should be judged on what they can offer going forward. This needs to be a proper fresh start from top to bottom, not just a new manager with a bit of tinkering around the edges. Fitzmaurice confirmed this evening, three year term with backroom team to be finalised in the coming weeks. About as good an appointment as you could have hoped for really, experienced manager and all Ireland winner who was directly involved in the FRCs rule making thought process.
