Replying To Trucker1:  "Still a few lads out of position on that team. Has Molloy ever played wing forward even at club? Mulkerrin is not a wing back, either give him a go in his proper position or leave him off. Nice to see McHugh back at wing back and it will leave Daly less exposed.
Midfield is decent and full forward line looks exciting. Better balance than last week at least. Looking forward to seeing how we go"
Molloy won't be playing wing forward, he'll be man marking the returning Enda Smith.

Word in Salthill today was that the Derry game could be moved to Pearse Stadium. Seemingly they are a bit behind on the roof work in Tuam.

A draw against a team unlikely to win any games at all and another terrible points total, a meagre 19 points in two games.
Even if we were lucky enough to finish level on points with two other teams our points difference is likely to go against.

I'd be critical of the impact Shefflin is having, but he's working with a very limited group of players, Joyce has some amazing talent yet can't even get them to play to appropriate levels for what's there.

All we will hear is about the conditions, the conditions but nearly every other team playing today in the same conditions in all divisions scored more than 9 points. It hard to fathom what is wrong.Maybe championship will be different. That is all we can hope for.

Can't understand the thinking or maybe lack of thinking putting Darcy full forward pure madness Niall Daly there last day and did not come in 2 day but putting Darcy full forward was baffling if not pure stupid,,

Bad game in terrible conditions but given the players are Galway are missing that was actually a much better performance than last week.

And that black card was not a black card.Ref trying to level up numbers. He has done it before. Not an excuse but whatever chance we had in those last 10 mins went with that reffing decision.

What are you on about that Shefflin has a limited group of players compared to Joyce? Sure everyone on the hurling panel either has a senior all ireland medal or a club all ireland and minor all irelands falling out of their pockets.

Look at the bench today in the Hyde. You wouldn't say there was a load of options.

Agreed. Most on here gave us no chance going to the Hyde. No County in the country could absorb the loss of Comer, Walsh S. Kelly, McDaid and Silke and expect to be winning league games. Reality check for many. Sure Mayo had their championship team out last Sunday and we were crucified in the media. Yes we have issues over style, transition, players allegedly being given unfamiliar roles but surely better to have these flushed out in Jan/Feb than April.

Ger Loughnane coined the phrase 'pure constipated hurling' to describe what he thought was a poor performance from the Dublin hurlers a number of years ago.
The way we're playing football at the moment brings that to mind for me.
We're really struggling for scores and we're creating very few if any goal chances. It seems so formulaic, very similar to a number of our championship games last year.
I heard some of the management team say at the start of the year that we needed to open up a bit more and create more scoring chances, even if it meant taking a few more risks defensively.
We haven't seen any signs of it yet anyway. If we don't by championship, it'll be a short year.

The hurlers are still relying on lads from 2017.
Only the odd player came in after that and made a big impact.
The numerous minor titles amounted to diddly squat at senior and we've barely won a game at U20 level in over 10 years.

We have been highly competitive at minor and U20 in the football the past few years and the more succesful colleges teams being full of Galway players reinforces that.

Shefflin has a far more limited bunch of players than Joyce.

No Walsh, Silke, Kelly, Comer, McDaid, Glynn today. I would not read too much into the league. Mayo going all out with their full pick except for Diarmuid O Connor beating a Dublin who are clearly not at full tilt by a point. We can massively improve but whether we do is the question.

Correct. We are playing with less than half our first choice team several of whom hold all stars. Joyce 100% correct to show his Hand in January or February against Connacht teams. We will only know where the team is in the last two or three games. Ross had a strong team out today and Mayo were only short of D O Connor last night. We were flying this time last year only to pick up injuries and lose form when it really mattered.

Absolutely, Niall Daly was the obvious change and should have went into the half forward line or the middle, he kicked a few massive scores in the Hyde two years ago and that wind would have helped him do that today. Cein is an honest player but full forward line was a strange and unfair call for him.

...agreed but we probably need 5 or 6 points to be safe and get Paul Conroy rested asap before the trip to London. A win today would have helped but as noted by others you just can't take the players out that we are missing and not struggle, we can add McLaughlin, Cooke, Heron and Patrick Kelly into the missing or unavailable players.

Looking at Derry going all out with their full team with the Ulster Championship still to come you would doubt they can keep it up for the next 6 months.

2 week break and then head North to play Tyrone which is a game Galway can win. Then Derry at home.......probably the best head to head record Galway have against any top County team. Derry must hate playing against Galway because Galway somehow always seem to nab them! Round it off then with revenge for Clones!
