Why didn't you complete the post, and give us the tip regarding what Munster side will be making the final?

Arrogance? Have to fire an odd shot back Yew, with John Maughan still on the airwaves regularly.

Replying To smallfrank:  "I know I keep going on about him but Patrick Egan really is a prospect. He seems to have all the skills and above all else has it between the ears. McCabe as well definitely has something about him, reminded me of Basquel yesterday the way he backs himself when he gets possession."
Agreed re Patrick Egan.
He definitely looks to have the ability to play senior county football at some stage. A very promising player.
I haven't seen as much of Jack McCabe.
Was a sub on the u20 team
This year.

I'd imagine barna management will stay on having made a prelim quarter final. Kilannin will be looking for new management after their year. Interesting to see whether Oughterard management will stay or go, they had quite an up and down year. What managers are available to clubs in Galway now who are actually available?

But let's be honest he wasn't at his best in 2023. I don't think he played well enough to merit an All Star this year.
Also, I know Enda Smith got one - but I think Sean would have to have been exceptional to get one given that we were beaten in a preliminary quarter final. Not too often a team that doesn't even make a quarter final gets an All Star."
Kelly was playing really well until his injury. People were talking about him as a footballer of the year contender. Admittedly this was early on in the intercounty season. Once he got injured against Armagh and played on one leg for the Mayo game and Galway were out before the quarter-finals he had no chance. Similar to Comer to be honest. Both were in great form but both got injured.

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Corofin will be having a good look at the tape to find out how an inferior side like Ballina scored 0-9 with the gale in the second half, the exact same as Corofin managed in the first half. With their possession and elements, I thought Corofin should have had a 10-12 point lead at HT rather than a 6point one. Referee had the common 'referee weakness' that he gave the weaker 'struggling' side soft frees, that eventually almost got them back in the game. Hard to pick the best 15 going forward, after that display. About 10or11 of that Corofin team are playing a lot better that the 'tailenders' imo. Big panel, lots of options if 4or5 more of them hit form in the next month or so."
In fairness to Ballina they kicked some boomers from distance with the wind behind them to help them close the gap. After a sloppy spell, Corofin settled down again though and just extended the lead back out again. Ballina weren't as defensive as I thought they'd be. They played football and that suited Corofin who will back themselves to win that type of game every day of the week. Will be interesting to see how they go from here. They usually improve if anything once they get out of Galway but it's still a new experience for the younger players they now have.

Roscommon were knocked out by a fairly average Cork side in the qualifiers and yet ended up with an all star so your argument does not hold up in that regard.

Gary Sice is in the best form of his career which is all the more amazing given the personal issues he has had to deal with. I know this may be a bit tongue in cheek but with people here saying that Galway's current weakness is the lack of forwards could he be in line for a super sub role with Galway in 2024?

St. Brigid beat Leitrim champions Mohill, to reach the Connacht Final. Will Corofin have enough to win Connacht?

It will be a very tough game no doubt.

Yes I know they were - maybe read the post again. Clearly that is the only reason I specifically referenced Enda Smith!!
What I said was - you need to have had an exceptional season to get an All Star if you don't even make a quarter final. Even losing quarter finalists rarely get one (we lost a multitude of quarter finals over the years and never got one).
Sean didn't have an exceptional season (I was at every Galway game this year league and championship) so I don't think he deserved one this year.
Whether Smith had a good enough season to merit one overall I don't know - I didn't see all of the Roscommon games.

Very much tongue in cheek. Apart from the master teams 39 year old Gary Sice days at county level is over. Do Galway lack forwards? wasn't a number of recent underage county teams have good scoring forwards.

Here's a question. Does ( or should) club performances be a consideration for All Star selection. I honestly dont know.
Paudie Clifford , for example, did not do enough for Kerry in 2023 to deserve one, but when you add in his performances for Fossa and East Kerry he did.
Similarly if you were to make a solid case for Sean Kelly you would have to consider his Moycullen performances , as to be honest, he just didnt do quite enough for Galway to justify solely on that basis.

Will be interesting to see how the U19 final goes on Sunday between Corofin and Kilannin. Kilannin have already knocked out Moycullen and Salthill, Dara Walsh at midfield is very strong for the age grade.

Rumor has it Thomas Payton was back in training with Moycullen this year, crazy to think a footballer with that much ability didnt get on in the final when they needed scores.

Dublin is the only county who don't complain about their forwards, in Walsh, Comer & Finnerty Galway have the forwards to win the All Ireland. I think Galway's best 15 is every bit as good as Dublin's & Kerry's in term of talent, issue in 2022 was the lack of impact from the bench which I'd like to think has now improved.

Galway should and have to do well in this years championship if injuries don't take its toll like last year so there's pressure on Joyce. This is a very gifted Galway panel which is full of All Stars and those who have the quality to win them .
