I'd imagine barna management will stay on having made a prelim quarter final. Kilannin will be looking for new management after their year. Interesting to see whether Oughterard management will stay or go, they had quite an up and down year. What managers are available to clubs in Galway now who are actually available?

Kelly was playing really well until his injury. People were talking about him as a footballer of the year contender. Admittedly this was early on in the intercounty season. Once he got injured against Armagh and played on one leg for the Mayo game and Galway were out before the quarter-finals he had no chance. Similar to Comer to be honest. Both were in great form but both got injured.

In fairness to Ballina they kicked some boomers from distance with the wind behind them to help them close the gap. After a sloppy spell, Corofin settled down again though and just extended the lead back out again. Ballina weren't as defensive as I thought they'd be. They played football and that suited Corofin who will back themselves to win that type of game every day of the week. Will be interesting to see how they go from here. They usually improve if anything once they get out of Galway but it's still a new experience for the younger players they now have.

Roscommon were knocked out by a fairly average Cork side in the qualifiers and yet ended up with an all star so your argument does not hold up in that regard.

Gary Sice is in the best form of his career which is all the more amazing given the personal issues he has had to deal with. Yes I know they were - maybe read the post again. Clearly that is the only reason I specifically referenced Enda Smith!! What I said was - you need to have had an exceptional season to get an All Star if you don't even make a quarter final. Even losing quarter finalists rarely get one (we lost a multitude of quarter finals over the years and never got one). Sean didn't have an exceptional season (I was at every Galway game this year league and championship) so I don't think he deserved one this year. Very much tongue in cheek. Apart from the master teams 39 year old Gary Sice days at county level is over. Do Galway lack forwards? wasn't a number of recent underage county teams have good scoring forwards.

Here's a question. Does ( or should) club performances be a consideration for All Star selection. I honestly dont know. Paudie Clifford , for example, did not do enough for Kerry in 2023 to deserve one, but when you add in his performances for Fossa and East Kerry he did. Dublin is the only county who don't complain about their forwards, in Walsh, Comer & Finnerty Galway have the forwards to win the All Ireland. I think Galway's best 15 is every bit as good as Dublin's & Kerry's in term of talent, issue in 2022 was the lack of impact from the bench which I'd like to think has now improved.
