Sarcasm aside,, and taking retirements into account,, Dublin are more likely to win the all Ireland this year than Mayo, kerry, or donegal are to win their provinces.

Their disingenuous posts about saving GAA by splitting Dublin, share out the Dublin sponsorship funding, stop GAA funding, keep them out of Croke Park etc etc - there is a method to their madness.... it is because they believe they will benefit most out of it... it is all self serving....!
They, the posters, ex players and pundits are being far from altruistic - believe me....!
It is the No.1 agenda of many of their posters on here - stir it up, and hope for a snowball effect....
Try for the sympathy vote and help save the poor kingdom... ;o)

Take Dublin out, and who will win 90% of the following All Ireland's...??? It certainly wont be Limerick or Meath....!
You don't need to be a rocket scientist.... And that guy you used to work with, will be back in the money... ;o)"
It's not just kerry people saying that Dublin should be split though,, lots are, even from counties who have no chance of ever winning sam.
For the record I'm deeply opposed to it,, even as a galwayman I can say that splitting Dublin would be a sporting tragedy for ireland (dunlin gaa, a full hill etc is a trademark of our sport,, even when ye were winning nothing lol) but I'm afraid the idea of splitting ye has snowballed anyway.
Still though I personally just don't see it happening."
You will see a United Ireland long before you see Dublin partitioned."]ten to fifteen years for both?"]No harm in dreaming !

Yes superb player, won't be replaced easily.

So, so sorry to see Keith Higgins go. One of the very best ever. A true soldier for Mayo. Wishing him the very best of luck and every blessing in his future.

Sad to see all the mayo lads retire without a senior all ireland medal. They'll always be the people's team though if that's any consolation.

I think im right in saying that Keith has two Celtic Crosses, U 21 in football & in hurling.

That in itself is a really unique achievement.

They'll be plenty of brilliant players from other counties as well that will now retire without allireland medals thanks to the gaa pumping 10s of millions into dublin helping to turn them into a province playing in an intercounty competition and giving them eternal home advantage on top of it.

dublin have out grown the intercounty championship now and needs to be regraded to an appropriate competition (the railway Cup)

I agree kingdomboy. Does anyone from croke park have any opinions on the matter I wonder? Never hear a word.

Peoples team your ar*e, they failed to win Sam and they threw away plenty chances when they should really have won it.
Higgins was a great player and it's sad the likes of him never got an All ireland medal but there's been plenty great players before him and more to come who will never win one either. I wish Keith all the best in retirement. Mayo have a big rebuilding job on their hands now.

Of course it won't be a consolation for those players.
Is it a consolation for all the Wexford players who have retired without one.Considering it's been 25 years I'd say they'd be a lot of peoples pet interest in hurling.

I think the point that you are making is correct but agreeing with you sounds moany and defeatist.

Every era has players that are top class and dont get an All Ireland medal but the Dublin six in a row now means that there are more players and teams that finish up without and All Ireland. But, this happens in all sports. But the situation is becoming a bit stark when you realise that this coming season will probably be the first season ever where there will only be players with Leinster Championship winners medals playing with one county. That doesnt happen too often in the sporting world - yet Leinster Council CEO Michael Reynolds believes that there is no issue.

So Keith Higgins and others from Mayo are bowing out and, in previous eras, their achievements would be regarded to be good but they got so close on several occasions and who is to know if they would have won at least one if they hadnt come up against the current Dublin juggernaut. I think they would have but we will never truly know.

I heard michael reynolds on a podcast and he said that he would be surprised if Dublin win the next 5 or 6 leinsters which I thought was a bit surprising and disappointing.

That's probably true Stillaroyal, theres no players left currently playing ( outside of Dublin ) with a Leinster Championship medal.... mad thought !

Must be less than 10 lads still playing from both Donegals winning team of 2012 and Kerrys winning team of 2014.... so it's possibly that fairly soon there will be no players left currently playing ( outside of Dublin ) with an All Ireland Medal either !!..... think the 'leaders' of the GAA will take notice by then ??

I think people are reading too much into the retirements tbh.All 6 Mayo players were great servant to Mayo and gave us all great pleasure watching them but age has caught up with them. The chances were only Clarke and barratt had any chance of starting places in 21.Last year Higgins Vaughan Seamie O shea did nt feature and Parsons was only a bit player so truth being told this years Mayo team wont be that much different to the team that got to last years final. Also same with Dublins retirements.MDMA or Andrews did nt feature last year anyway.
