Replying To yew_tree:  "Galway no3, Sean Kelly that appeared to strike Tommy while in a headlock. Dangerous play but look these incidents happen. Some of our lads are no angels either and all teams have an element of scoundrels...does not make it right but I don't think any team can claim they are whiter than white. We move on...it over and done with."
The point I'm making is it was shown in replay even in slow motion and no one paid a bit of notice. our lads are no angles thats for sure

Replying To Tizcold:  "GDL do you have a video link to this punch? If you do then i will back you up.

Unfortunetly a picture is not conclusive. It doesn't clearly show a strike.

Video footage is and Conroy struck with the knee and Galway full back struck with the fist."
Nah, just saw it on the Jimmies page. I'd be surprised if they photo shopped it.

A lot has been made of this so called younger Mayo team which as a group is older then Galways whilst Mayo's 4 youngest players are practically the same age as Galways,

In that period Ulster produced three different winners. In the same period both Connacht and Leinster had 4 different winners.

Since 2013 there have been 5 different teams contesting the Connacht final and 3 different winners in last 3 years....

It is only Leinster and Munster that are one sided the majority of the time.
Since 2010, only 2 counties have won each of Leinster (Meath x1) and Munster (Cork x2), with Dublin and Kerry winning the remainder respectively.

Great to see the knockout back with massive rivalries still intact. The are the heart and soul of the association. Hands off I say.

Galway-Mayo
Cork-Kerry
Donegal-Tyrone
Dublin-TBA

The GAA needs to keep provinces going for the ordinary country people

Fair point but in my lifetime I've only seen one Connaught team win Sam. I've seen 2 Munster teams win. 3 Leinster teams win and 5 Ulster teams win.

I wish I had the tech skill for that. Just go onto the St James' Facebook page. There is a post about the 4 year membership and a photo of Paul C above it. It is the guy from Belmullet with Loftus looking on.

Aye, and in that time Ulster won Sam 4 times and 1 finalist.

Provincial Championships are great but not the road to go on route to a All Ireland Semi Final. Dubs could play their ladies team until the Semis.

Averages can skew things. I think the main point is Mayo are no longer an ageing team falling off a cliff. Still a team in transition and there will be tough days ahead no doubt but heading in the right direction...I think.

Paddy Durkan is now regarded as old by many...he is only 26. Cillain O C is 28.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Not a great game but the conditions didn't help, Galway made a lot of errors and the ref had a very bad game I thought, Mayo are looking good and this wasn't one of their better performances, they'll do better in Croke park I think, if I was Cork or Tipp I wouldn't exactly be shaking in my boots but Mayo are favs to reach the All Ireland final again, odds are on Dublin v Mayo final again but this is 2020 and anything can happen."
This Donegal team has strength & conditioning akin of peak Dublin/Mayo 2017.. blended with some top class footballers.
Find it odd that you writing them off ,,or you just laying low a mhac..

Replying To moc.dna:  "Thought AOS played very well, led the line took 2 men with him with dummy runs, creating space. Great target man & distributor, he came to the middle to help out when needed. Thought himself or EML were man of the match. MR got it & while he played well & won a couple of turnovers, he also gave away a few turnovers.
Interestingly, the player (Galway) who gave away the most turnovers & who had a very poor game stayed on the field for the whole game, I thought the stats people would have flagged this."
Ah lord moc.dna he was never going to take SW off. If the stats men were doing their job they would have ticked at least 5 possessions lost by him. First minute pass to no one ball went over the end line. Few minutes later caught in possession as he soloed forward, next possession kicked to full forward line (where he should have been), Barrett in front possession lost, brutal pass to JD (stretchered off) and at the end a 40:60 pass to Heaney, game over. Throw into the mix that his man marker kicked a point and I think you will see that one of most experienced players had a bad day at the office.

Sorry i think you miss understand the point i was trying to make. I am not discrediting Ulster its is extremely competitive and as you have pointed out the strongest but my points were in relation to the lad who thinks Connacht is Mayo V Galway every year and Ulster is the only province that is competitive.
