Good question. I'd say its going to stand as is. That would be the fairest way. Whoever is below the line will drop down. How else can you do it?

It's not the fairest way. What about Aston Villa, currently below the line in 19th place, two points behind Watford and West Ham who are both above the line? Villa have played one game less than both of them.

There was talk of no relegation, and Leeds and West Brom being promoted, which would leave it as a 22 team League for the next season. Then they would relegate 5 teams and back to normal the following season.

Damn that's a tough one. If you want to be old fashioned about it maybe a coin flip. Either way some people are going to be mad. I'm glad it's not my decision to make.

Get the season finished on FIFA 2020.

Broadcast it on Sky.

Job done.

Was just thinking if there is no football (gaa) this year, could they have maybe have a free taking and or a peno competition say in croke park all counties have a player or two and have it an open draw (or you could do it for the province s either) have it live on rte just to give us a bit of crack and banter, with all precautions of course.what would think?

Maybe we should do a knockout rock, paper scissors between all the county captains, held on zoom and shown live by sky and rte.
Could even do a backdoor with it.

That's still 30 odd players, plus officials and ground staff congregating together. It would be no different from playing a match.

It would be entertaining if nothing else.

Would the Poc Fada and Kick Fada competitions serve the same purpose? I believe these competitions may still be going ahead this year (although its not certain)

You could do it one v one, each player has three kicks one out to left, one in the middle, one from the right whoever scores more goes through to the next round.a ref and someone behind the goal is all you would need then, players could take frees one on the Hogan stand side and the other Cusack side and vice versa.

True but Social Distancing could be applied. A lot of sports decide things with Sudden Death scenarios so it's not the worst idea in the world.

True. I'm not deliberately trying to pick holes in your idea, we're all dying for some sort of action. But, I couldn't see a knock-out format working. You'd have players travelling from all over the country, only to be knocked out after a few kicks or pucks of the ball.

Ha ha ha. Pick away as we have no better alternative than to hope for the best and to come up with possible scenarios. I was really looking forward to that Galway vs Wexford hurling match. I know it was only the League but Davy has Wexford playing great and it would have been a great match I'd say. No scenario that people talk about here can top the real thing. Sigh.

Golf courses to reopen this month; GAA and soccer set for July resumption

The first phase will see the opening of outdoor public sports amenities such as tennis courts and golf courses where social distancing can be maintained.

Golf's national governing bodies have said that play will be for members only and competitions will not be permitted in the initial stage.

The second phase will commence on 8 June and will see people allowed to engage in outdoor sporting and fitness activities, involving small group team sports training (but not matches) where social distancing can be maintained and where there is no contact.

Phase three on 29 June will permit "behind closed doors" sporting activities events where arrangements are in place to enable participants to maintain social distancing.

More significant developments are set to take place in phase four and five.

From 20 July, the government says GAA and soccer teams will be allowed resume activities, but only where limitations are placed on the numbers of spectators and where social distancing can be maintained

The final phase begins on 10 August and will permit close physical contact sports such as rugby and boxing.

Gyms and sports clubs will be opened once effective cleaning has been carried out and social distancing can be maintained.

Mass sports gatherings will only be allowed "in accordance with both indoor and outdoor numbers restrictions".

Read this doc. The GAA plan is bizarre. They say resumption of games were spectators are limited and social distancing can be maintained. Sure how can you have players play football and have them maintain social distancing at the same time

I thinking they are giving us hope but they know it won't happen

Leo speaking specifically about the GAA more or less has said if an inter-county championship would be played it would be behind closed doors at the earliest Aug/Sep and that decision was up to the GAA. I suppose we will see if there is any flexibility going on with that or whether the GAA will decide to sit it out hoping for bigger crowds. Be weird watching the Dubs on TV live, hopefully pubs might be open though.

Hopefully something can be worked out for Clubs before, I'd murder a club championship at the moment, be good for the players as well - well those that choose to play.
