Double header with the Ladies replay is it? Mayo not good record in Pearse or Mchale Park, so no surprise turning down that option tommy132 (Mayo) - Posts: 638 - 01/07/2019 17:12:35 2203752 Link 0 |
Didn't Cillian play in a challenge game in the last few weeks?

Mayo haven't beaten Galway in 16 attempts across U17, U18, U20, U21 and Senior, spanning 4 years. Not including club meetings or ladies which would add to it. Surely have to be winning this one on the law of averages? PressureKick (UK) - Posts: 279 - 01/07/2019 17:24:52 2203763 Link 0 |
Sure we have 2 stadiums in Connacht that could host the game, but they're in the competing counties. With a neutral venue needed, Hyde Park was the other option but it's not ready to take the capacity needed yet. You're hardly advocating for 35K+ stadiums in Leitrim or Sligo are you? You seem to be giving out that the game's not in Connacht, but then suggesting that it should be in Croke Park. I'd prefer Limerick over Croker as it's a shorter commute. It will also be a lot more full for the game than Croker, which will lead to a better atmosphere. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2319 - 01/07/2019 17:26:59 2203768 Link 1 |
Great draw for the neutrals. Looking very much forward to this one. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8748 - 01/07/2019 17:34:21 2203774 Link 7 |
This is Galways All Ireland final and it has been that way since Walsh took charge. BeJasus (UK) - Posts: 383 - 01/07/2019 17:46:05 2203783 Link 2 |
What the f##k is this game in Limerick for? It takes over 4 hours to get from the northern part of Mayo to Limerick, Tullamore would have been closer if Dr Hyde Park wasn't available, anyway its bulls##t to say the Hyde hasn't the capacity, sure it has hosted plenty of Connacht finals. Only an eejet would expect both sets of supporters to travel on the same road to and from the game especially with the traffic issues between Galway and Claremorris. Time for the Mayo co board to grow a pair and stand up for their supporters, Dr Hyde Park or nowhere riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 01/07/2019 17:47:54 2203785 Link 3 |
Will the Gaelic Grounds be big enough, huge crowd going from Galway. moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 1212 - 01/07/2019 17:48:31 2203787 Link 1 |
Just heard on local radio that both sides wouldn't agree on a toss of coin for home advantage, that's just another insult to both Mayo and Galway supporters instead of a local venue whether it Salthill or Castlebar and local revenue for businesses we now have to travel for hours to Limerick, for the good of both Mayo and Galway people both co boards should resign due to incompetence, they are not working for the good of the county only themselves, resign and get somebody right in there. This should be a cracker. Hard to call with the injury count on both sides. Looking forward to it! greysoil (Monaghan) - Posts: 965 - 01/07/2019 18:16:35 2203801 Link 1 |
Bit unfair on Galway having to play this game in Limerick with Mayo having playing there a few times in the last few years. Almost their second home ground! KY4SAM2015 (Kerry) - Posts: 898 - 01/07/2019 18:18:33 2203803 Link 3 |
Traffic issues between Claremorris and Galway? A motorway opened there 2 years ago...you can't miss it...I'll meet u at da roundabout in Tuam ;)

And we are not depleted? Also this thing about it our all Ireland totally misguided. Sure it was in 2016 but not now. If we open up and play football we have a good chance of winning as we have some serious forwards (some like Corofin's Martin Farragher) not getting a decent run. Unfortunately I think KW won't go high risk but IMO he should as what has he to lose. However changing tack mid season would be very risky.

If it could take a Limerick crowd at a home munster final yesterday I'd say the crowds from Galway will be OK somehow.

Strange if youre a connacht gaa fan but youre Anti connacht funding. I said "GAA need to invest some money into connacht stadiums" Translation upgrade Hyde Park so it can host Connacht finals and Qualifiers. Why do you think I want a 35K+ stadium in Leitrim???? Galway cant even hold 35k...Just because limerick is close to you it isnt the case for evenyone and has less bus and train services then dublin. Also The distance between your home and your place of work is your commute you wont be commuting to limerick just to watch a game brisbane (Galway) - Posts: 675 - 01/07/2019 18:37:12 2203823 Link 0 |

I agree. Apparently your Co. Board would not agree to a coin toss although unsubstantiated. I would think both counties would have taken either Salthill or Castlebar.
