Did Brolly actually admit he was wrong. At least he did that. However it is like the appeals court finding the defendant not guilty but he has already been hung. It does show that shooting off his mouth without knowing the rules or knee jerk judging a decision makes him incompetent for the role rte has given him. Rte will never admit that.

Replying To riverboys:  "People have been saying for a good while we need neutral referees from neutral provinces for major matches like the All Ireland Finals but I will go I bit further we need neutral pundits on the Sunday game, I thought it was disgraceful for former Kilkenny players who were pundits on both shows to jump up and defend their county man who deservedly received a red card and 1 of them even claiming the Tipperary player went down very easy, that was completely wrong and unprofessional and then yesterday we had Whelan and wanna be dub Brolly saying Jonny Cooper didn't deserve to be sent off, they claimed it was a 50/50 ball and at best a free with Blue Brolly saying it should have been a Dublin free, the ref showed what went wrong, Cooper pulled Clifford for the penalty and David Gough has a reputation for giving frees for off the ball fouling or dragging a player before a ball is kicked into him, he done the same in 2017 Mayo v Kerry, Mayo got a few frees for the same antics Kerry were at, the same in Mayo v Donegal this year Michael Murphy won a penalty that at the time looked soft but on the TV replay he was dragged and a correct call, back to yesterday the 2nd foul where Cooper received his 1st yellow ref clearly showed a yellow and then showed 2 fingers indicating 2 fouls therefore a yellow, Cooper was on quicksand at this stage and any type of foul he would get the line and this happened, no argument the issue was the management, they should have made changes, both Cooper and Small were in serious trouble with yellow cards and ticking as well, 1 more foul and they were gone, for proper punditry please give us neutral pundits on the Sunday game so no Whelan, no Blue Brolly, no Spillane, no Tomas O'Se. The person I'd like to hear from is former Mayo manager and current Donegal coach Stephen Rochford, he is the only coach that has been able to put the game to the dubs for the past 5 years apart from the Kerry camp yesterday and his insight would be a learning curve for those watching at home instead of the same ranting by blue Brolly and co"

I hope Brollys dropping was down to his own schedule and not some PC nonsense from RTE. Brolly says it how he sees it, Not always right, certainly not always wrong. Thats life. If we start eliminating people from our screens who say something the majority think opposite then we will never have diverse debate again. So what he got the Gough thing wrong- get over it.

He is hardly ever right, does less and less research year on year, rambles on interrupting everyone else and also has launched some personal attacks on players. Nobody takes him seriously.

Brolly's time is up. He made the fatal mistake of changing what made him great. Whatever you made of the Sean Cavanagh rant, it was spontaneous and from the heart. But 2 years later he's trotting out the Marty Morrissey is ugly quote which was a glib as it was hurtful. Last week he gave RTE all the rope they needed. When's the last time Joe, or indeed any of the regular analysts told you something you didn't know? I remember the semi final between Armagh and Tyrone in 2005, and he was waxing lyrical about the game with an almost youthful exuberance. Those days are long gone. Now it's either fawning over Dublin by saying how great they are or fawning over Dublin by dissing their opponents. And then there's the constant interruptions which are just rank bad manners and the hissy fits when someone interrupts him. There's a reason why Dunphy got removed from the soccer coverage, it's because most people are sick of someone constantly repeating themselves and making it all about them. I'm sick of this "Sure he's a gas man" mentally. Big decision for RTE now. Will he be on the evening show on Saturday night? Sky have showed that pundits who concentrate on the game and not their personal agenda is the best method. Do I want to be entertained while watching GAA?

Not a notion is he dropped for good. Agree or disagree with him, he is box office. He will be on the evening addition of the programme and ratings will be through the roof because everyone will want to hear what he has to say.

Used like Brolly, he still can be good but very little balance from him regarding Dublin. Yes they are great but surely the advantages they have could be mentioned as a qualifier.
Instead we hear that they do s lot of charity work. Many country lads don't get to bed until 1am after communting to training so hard to get around to charity work. No sponsored car, food, appearance fees, GPA scholarship etc

Excellent post, I agree with you 100%.

I noticed he apologized to David Gough but not to David Clifford, he made out that Clifford cheated and conned the reff for the penalty and the cooper sending off.

He just proved himself to be what we all knew .

RTÉ dropped him because they had no other choice. He was too arrogant, he got the whole predictions wrong about the final. He was dug into Spillane before the game started, he kept interrupting the panel, he couldn't accept that he had got the whole thing so completely wrong so his scape goat was blame the referee and get personal about it to make it stick. Proper order. Delighted to see Stephen Rochford on. There will be no bad manners from him but great analysis.

What diverse debate are you referring to exactly? It certainly didn't happen at HT in the drawn game. Brolly wouldn't let Spillane get a word in edgeways and they ran out of time before any proper debate could take place. Full Time analysis wasn't much better. I think they should have given Whelan the evening off as well

This is humiliation for Brolly. He has lost face and I can't see how he could appear on the programme again. Having said that The Sunday Game is simply dreadful now. It has lost the authority of Michael Lyster as Joanne Cantwell is more like a prim, humourless school teacher. If Brolly has been dropped because he offended people then Spillane should have been off years ago. He has spent 2 decades badmouthing, disrespecting and offending Ulster players, counties and fans. RTE seem to think that's OK.

Good riddance to him, he adds absolutely nothing to the coverage. Time has finally caught up with him and his antics, Joe you are now an irrelevant nobody.
