Dr Crokes edged a thrilling 2-14 to 1-16 victory over Dingle in yesterday’s Kerry club senior football championship clash at Páirc an Ághasaigh.

Cian McMahon’s late point proved the difference between the sides as the holders advanced into the knock-out stages by handing the hosts their second defeat of the competition.

McMahon hit the net for Killarney side after four minutes and they’d grow their advantage to as many as 11 points before the scores of Kerry captain Paul Geaney (two-pointer), Conor Flannery, Tadhg Browne and Sean Og Moran helped to trim down the Dingle deficit.

Niall Geaney nailed a two-pointer just before half-time to leave the All-Ireland club champions trailing by 1-10 to 0-8 when the sides went in and they’d register the first five points of the second-half to draw level.

Ned Ryan’s point in the 47th minute brought the sides all square and Dingle moved in front through Dylan Geaney’s score two minutes later, with Conor Geaney doubling the lead on 50 minutes.

Dr Crokes pulled back a point through Charlie Keating ahead of Dingle finding the net with a Conor Geaney goal, but their Killarney counterparts would net a penalty through McMahon to cancel it out and a David Shaw effort from beyond the arc saw the sides level with three minutes remaining.

The next score went the way of the visitors and it was McMahon that grabbed it, as Dingle saw a late two-point free effort from Paul Geaney dropping wide (watch match highlights here).

Elsewhere in the Kerry club SFC, Rathmore were 0-18 to 0-16 winners over Spa while Milltown-Castlemaine defeated Na Gaeil (1-13 to 1-10) and Kenmare Shamrocks and Austin Stacks finished all square on a 1-19 to 2-16 scoreline.
