Replying To journeyman:  "Good performances all round and great to see the new lads putting in their hands up for selection. Even if they don't make the team they push the first 15 to higher levels. I think Kyle is better in defence and with Cian back he will be in this position come championship. Peter Casey looked sharp and will keep improving. Adam English played well when introduced and I think will see alot more game time this season. DOD best limk player over the 2 games and looks to be back to 2021 form."
Absolutely agree with you as regards DOD, possibly our most consistent player day in day out, for past five seasons, with an engine to die for. With Kyle going back, I think Big Dan may go to Full Back, which I think is his best position.

Anyone know the full panel. No sign of Patrick O'Donovan at all. Thought he'd be in the mix.
I hate building lads up but I think Shane O'brien will be a serious forward for us for years to come

Agree that fb is probably Dan's best position. He would do a decent job for you at wing back (or any position really) but the way the game has gone you almost need a scoring treat from all your half back line and Kyle most certainly gives you that

Isn't it great that dan can fill any position for limerick..he is one of the players who just seems to do the basic things very right..having peter and Cian back is like having two new players come into the panel.i agree on dod has been outstanding in last two games..again like dan does basics very well..o brien is one definitely for the long road,he's a huge young man and built like a fella six years older..I'm usually wary of building young fellas up but he looks real deal to me..injuries will play a huge part again for the year and certainly it looks good for limerick with so many players competing for not just first 15 but the match day panel of 26..I'd love to know if all stayed fully fit,who would be the starting 15??and inwhat positions they'd be picked..

You're looking at possibly 4 into 3 in the Fb line. Dan Mike Sean and Barry. Richie English will also be pushing hard. I can't see anything other than Byrnes Hannon and Hayes in HB line with Colin coughlin the nearest pushing them. Midfield was an area of weakness last year for Limerick with a lot of opponents flooding the area so DoD and WoD will be under pressure from Reidy Murphy and possibly adam English and cathal o neill. The HF line of Hego Cian and Tom would be the early favs but Tom could come under pressure by Houlihan Reidy and O neill. Conor Boylan will also look to push on from last year and Aidan o Connor will likely get a run there soon. The inside line of Gillane Flanagan and Casey again will have serious pressure on them from the likes of English O Brien Mul and O Reilly. The depth chart is deep. It's some headache to have. From what I've seen in the early parts of the league is that the established starting 15 are under real and genuine pressure all over the field. It'll only be good for all. The A v B games come end of March in the Gaelics will be tasty. You'd get a fair crowd into them if they opened the gates.

Replying To Dealer:  "The team that really worried us last year is Galway so that's the first look for me. They have a core of outstanding players but they are ageing. Joseph Cooney is now 32 (robbed for an All Star in 2022) They also have some really promising young players. I think that Waterford messed up last year. We won U21 All Irelands in 2015 and 2017. They won the U21 in 2016 and they have a core of fantastic players. KK to my mind are slipping and have lost 2 starters from the All Ireland last year. I don't rate Wexford or Dublin to be very blunt. Tipp have finally picked Breen at No 3 so they will be better but I don't think they can close all the gap. Cork will also be better and will be fighting to get out of Munster but who is going to play at full back? Also, I'm not inspired by their goalie. I'm fascinated by where Clare will be. The core that won an All Ireland in 2013 including Kelly are getting older and I don't know what their scope for improvement is. They could prove me wrong but I reckon their window is closing.

I expect Limerick will benefit enormously from the return of Cian Lynch and Peter Casey. I'm also expecting Aaron Gillane to be back in arms by the time that the Munster championship comes around and I'm hoping for further progress from Cathal O'Neill (who I rate as the best 20 year old forward in the country). Shane O'Brien and Aidan 'Connor (his wrists are divine) are probably a year away. We had a clutch of young players into the senior panel last year who kept breaking down because they couldn't bear the physical load but they look to have come through that process and are ready for senior hurling now. I'm hearing that Michael Houlihan is in tremendous shape after an injury ravaged year and is desperate to find a place in the squad.

Final comment is that I imagine that most teams will be using the league to prepare for championship and that we won't see teams going all out at 100% unlike last year when teams attacked Limerick (Cork game in the Gaelic Grounds was madness). Who wants to be in the League Final is a most interesting question to ponder?"
What's the story with Aaron Gillane? I read he was playing soccer in the Desmond League?

Guarantee you he will be back before Lague is finished np point as they say "cutting off your nose to spite your face " players like him don't come around too often.

Generally if an inter county player is playing a different sport during the league it would signal no return. Especially with risk of injury. Really would hope he would be back but hardly looks likely.
