Replying To BarneyGrant:  "Winning kick outs is also responsibikty of outfield and particularly midfielders under new rules.

Severe lack of intelligence in that quarter..That's not on Cluxton."
You are correct Barney but Clucko has struggled under the new rules. The short kickout option is gone and no Fenton for him to aim at in midfield.Even last year v Meath Clucko struggled as Fenton was suspended.Time waits for no man.

Replying To Fionn:  "After all these years we still dont have a ready made replacement for Stevo.

Our backup goalies are ok but miles of him, and the likes of the Armagh, Donegal, Tyrone and Monaghan goalkeepers for example.

I agree - the new rules are not suiting Clucko though. And not a lot of time to put it right.
Although one could argue, if we had a better midfield, his job would be a hell of a lot easier....."
You are correct Fionn but Dessie s clubmate O Hanlon was a prospect but seems to have vanished.Comeford is nt bad.I just think Clucko should go gracefully but he wont go mid season.Dessie will have to make a call. You are right that even with other keepers we are way behind the Northern keepers. In fact Galway Mayo Kerry are not perfect with the keeper situation either.

O'Sullivan from Boden is a very good keeper in terms of shot stopping, distribution and comfortable on the ball in general. IF and its a big if he can stay fit (had terrible luck with a quad injury in recent years) then he would be right in the mix. I think Clucko will start on Saturday and it's a big game for him but honestly given the criticism of late there is no better man to turn in a performance on that back of it. Or at least that's what I'm hoping for anyway!! O'Hanlon was very hard done by in my opinion as hadn't really put a foot wrong when he got his opportunity.

I wouldn't take him too seriously..Seems to annoy most other Galway people too.

Should stress that my jibes at him are not to be taken too seriously either. A few Galway friends and had good chat with a few last Saturday who had also arrived back from a good day away following both our hurlers.

Definite edge to Dublin/Galway but based on regular important meetings. No malice in it. Mostly!

If the team lines out as was selected tonight, then I for one think Dessie should go now.
WTH is going on..????

Bulger not even on football subs.

Nor is O'Donnell who swapped hurling for training games ...

Not the most encouraging team announcement from Dessie, obviously the 15 named won't be the actual starting team but no Bugler or Murchan involved at all is disappointing.

Is there more than injuries involved? Not a chance imho of beating Galway without Bulger and McMahon starting. Costello ought no longer be part of even the panel. To be blunt.

Hearing Shane Walsh is back for Galway also.

We have no Bugler, O'Donnell, Murchin, or Gannon.

And our midfield pairing is as was.... it wont be strong enough for Galway.
More than surprised Dessie has kept faith in that midfield to be honest, as it got cleaned out of it by Meath.

In fact the only change from the Meath game is Cian Murphy coming in, and Kevin Lahiff going out.
Hardly inspiring.....!

Burnt his bridges id say.

He didn't even kick a ball for Whitehall in SFC and he chose to be on B teams for championship panel.

Bad decision. Hurlers could do with him but backs doing okay mostly. Sunday will tell a tale v TJ and Keogh an.

Can see the footballers struggling in Salthill. Would be surprised if they keep with Galway.

Hopefully the hurlers can give the Cats a rattle in Nowlan Pk.

Fionn I know your heart in the right place but you have to admit Dessie got his tactics spot on today and we destroyed the Galway midfield.Dessie is the right man in charge.I was always confident of beating Galway.I think we can beat their hurlers too.

Deadly!

I must profusely apologise to Peadar Ó CB.

Heroic performance. They did us proud.
