Castlegar won't be too easy. Faragher is playing like a 22 year old!!!

Two good games in the IHC last Saturday Kinvara (Galway) - Posts: 200 - 19/09/2023 09:36:32 2504736 Link 2 |
Unfortunately for Castlegar that area between midfield and centre back that Farragher likes to pick up ball is patrolled by Daithi and Sean Linnane so can't see Castlegar getting too much joy there.

Will Johnny O'Connor manage to make men out of them? He was a great player himself. Good move by Henry, me thinks! https://hoganstand.com/Article/Index/329304 foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2202 - 19/09/2023 13:19:56 2504804 Link 1 |
Pretty accurate summation. Ballygar missed very little of whatever they managed to create and Stephen Lohan had a great return from placed balls but they offered very little otherwise apart from hugely laudable effort and spirit and it was Kinvara's own ineptitude as much as anything positive Ballygar did that brought them back into the game near the end. The goalkeeper was unlucky, it was a horrible ball to have to deal with and he was entitled to expect better protection from his defenders. It was hanging in the air for long enough. That said, to come back from being behind twice in injury time says something for a team which is very young overall. Whelan's equaliser from the left touchline off the hurl at full tilt was worth the admission on its own, an outrageous score in any context, but when you're staring down the barrel.. Quite a lot of pressure on Meelick/Eyrecourt now, you'd wonder have they missed the promotion boat with the age profile of their team? Ballinderreen are dark horses in this for me, coming nicely to the boil after a sluggish start, I would expect them to beat Rahoon/Newcastle next time out. The previous poster was saying Cappy last year v St Thomas' the bad weather didn't suit the style of game Cappy play! My point is....the weather won't get any better this time of year.

Meelick-Eyrecourt v Kinvara is a win win game for you! I've no doubt it will be a tough battle but I'll stick with my tip from the start Meelick-Eyrecourt. With Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry, Ballindeeren and Sylane in the Semi Finals everyone will want to pull Sylane out of the hat in the Semi Final! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2556 - 19/09/2023 16:08:46 2504837 Link 1 |
Cashel are a one trick pony and you named it there. Turlough have more ace's and should join sarsfields, Loughrea and St.Thomas' in the Semi Finals Imo. katser (Galway) - Posts: 2556 - 19/09/2023 16:12:58 2504838 Link 1 |
Johnny o Connor is held in very very high esteem by all in the S&C world. He's an asset to any professional outfit nevermind a intercounty hurling team

A one trick pony that can put 16+ plus points from frees is a decent pony! Turlough should win this one, but didn't beat Gort and Cashel beat a decent Sarsfield team. There are no easy games at this point.

U20 final being streamed tonight between Oranmore and Clarinbridge for anyone not heading to Ballinasloe. 8pm throw in. Should be a cracker. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 888 - 20/09/2023 08:12:40 2504883 Link 1 |
Eamon O'Shea in with Shefflin now as a coach seemingly. If it is true then it is fantastic news. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 888 - 20/09/2023 08:19:36 2504884 Link 1 |
Unless they can pull 5 new starters out of thin air, EOS wont be able to make much impact with the current crop.

Martin McManus, John Cooney, Rory Burke... there are 3 that should start next year. And if so will be a serious addition to Galway. Id be very confident there are 2 more that I havent seen during this club championship that could be added to that list also.

I'm more thinking of when Henry leaves we have the incumbent in the set-up already! Get him in now and keep him there

Has Lukas Kirzenstein departed from the Galway set up? He is very highly regarded. I thought he was overseeing the S&C programs for all Galway age grades, in hurling as per Michèal Donoghues recommendation? Appointing a brand new S&C at senior level only, is questionable. Plus it will take around 3 years to see any progression. Mayo52 (Mayo) - Posts: 44 - 20/09/2023 15:38:35 2504968 Link 1 |
Yes he finished up this year. The underage is overseen by Des Ryan who was formerly Head of Development at Arsenal and senior is being taken over by Johnny O'Connor, ex-Connacht Rugby player
