Wexford senior football manager John Hegarty has been unanimously ratified to a fifth year in charge of the Slaneysiders.

Having been appointed as manager in the autumn of 2022, Hegarty has steered the Model men from Division 4 of the Allianz Football League up to Division 2.

Wexford county board confirmed last night that Hegarty will serve for a fifth consecutive year over the team, with Diarmuid O’Hanlon, Áine Kinsella, Micko Casey and Brian Malone to remain as coaches.

Meanwhile, new Wexford senior hurling boss Derek McGrath has announced the members of his backroom team.

Former Wexford stalwart Paul Morris and ex-Waterford hurler Gavin O'Brien will be part of the new set-up, with De La Salle’s James Quirke, who led Naomh Eánna to a Wexford SHC title three years ago, also a team coach and Deise native James O’Brien as head of Athletic Development.

McGrath was ratified as Waterford manager last month, succeeding Keith Rossiter in the role following the latter’s decision to step down after three years at the helm.
