Kyle Hayes was hospitalised following a hefty collision in a Limerick SHC match at the weekend.
Footage has appeared online of the incident which occurred during the first half of Kildimo-Pallaskenry’s Round 2 clash with Newcastle West in Rathkeale last Friday night, and resulted in a straight red card being issued to Newcastle full back Maurice Murphy by 2024 All-Ireland SHC final referee Johnny Murphy.
The five-time All-Star was treated for a number of minutes before being taken to University Hospital Limerick for an MRI scan. It’s understood that Hayes suffered a concussion in addition to sustaining a back injury. As a result of the injury, he was unable to attend Limerick team-mate Diarmaid Byrnes’ wedding on Saturday and also looks set to miss Kildimo-Passkenry’s Limerick SFC clash on Friday which, ironically, is also against Newcastle West.
Last weekend’s hurling encounter ended in a 2-16 apiece draw.
TweetTipperary fans and all hurling fans in general, will be keeping a close eye on Limerick SHC updates as five-time All-Star Kyle Hayes suffered a serious back injury in Friday’s clash between Kildimo-Pallaskenry and Newcastle West.
