Matty Forde admits he would love to have played under the new Gaelic football rules.

Wexford's only football All-Star was one of the greatest forwards of his generation, but his retirement from the inter-county game in 2010 came many years before the playing rules were tweaked to encourage more attacking play.

Speaking to the RTÉ GAA Podcast ahead of Friday's 2026 All Stars in the RDS, Forde said: "The game is quick, there’s lots of space, you’re getting those one-on-one battles again, which forwards in particularly love.

"Good forwards are being allowed to flourish again be it at club or county level, every team has that top scoring forward that everybody knows and everybody recognises, which probably got lost over the last eight or ten in years in particular."
