Kildare club Allenwood have appointed Mark Murnaghan as their new senior football manager.
The former Moorefield player takes the reins after spending the last three years in charge of Clogherinkoe. He has also had spells in charge of Ballymore Eustace and the Wicklow ladies. Murnaghan will be joined S&C coach and fellow Moorefield clubman Niall Hurley-Lynch, with local man David Burke confirmed as one of his selectors.
After losing their previous 15 games, Allenwood performed a Houdini act by beating Confey in this year’s SFC relegation final thanks in no small part to Johnny Doyle's heroics. The 47-year-old came off the bench at half-time to score 1-2 in the last quarter as Allenwood prevailed by 1-16 to 0-13.
