Replying To theweanling:  "Is anyone else slightly worried about the margins of defeats across the 3 divisions on the first round of the league, apart from the draw with a quick calculation it worked out the average win was at 9.5 points. Now there was some totally lopsided games, however out of the 20 games played 12 were won by 7 points or more and only 3 games won by 3 or less....."
That is some margin all right. Could be loads of different reasons. Teams missing players, some might not be back training, some teams could be just doing fitness work. Also we have three divisions rather than four which may result in teams being in a grade that is above their standard.

Maybe i jumped the gun a bit, i really hope you're right. I'll keep an eye on it for the next few months and see. However my fear was that if the players aren't being exposed to battles at club level then they wont be able to do it at county level. I was at one of the games where there was a bit of drubbing and tbf neither team gave up, it was just a case of one being on a different level than the other.

When you refer to "Bradley" most people would assume it to be Conor not James

Looks like your fears confirmed. Some absolute hammerings again today.

Having 3 divisions instead of 4 divisions looks like a big mistake by county board. A number of hammerings in divisions 2 and 3 as there are very weak teams out of their depth in both divisions.

Correct, what was the idea behind going back to 3 Divisions?
Typical bullsh** from county board.
Last few years League Campaigns were hugely competitive as everyone had something to play for with only 10 in the divisions be it promotion or relegation.
Some of decisions that get made defy logic but I suppose that is no surprise at this stage.

Some of those teams were getting hammered as it was in the 10 team league.

There was only 9 League games in a 10 game League. 3 Divisions gives clubs more games, instead of alternative competitions like the spring league, which half the clubs didn't care about.

I think this is the problem.

Had the Spring League been treated properly then clubs could have played this secondary competition without county players. Then they would have had their county players for all of the ACFL games which is much fairer. But some clubs didn't see it that way. A lot of people knocked the Breffni/Spring League when it arrived first, me included, but I think it was a good idea.

People did knock it but players liked it. Gave them regular football uninterrupted.

so where would you put the team that is out of their depth in the lowest division ?.

There are 1 or 2 teams (who I will not name). that have probably not won a game for a few years . what is the point . Why not amalgamate. If officers of the 2 clubs do not want to amalgamate then maybe it's time to disband the whole committee as it's a total farce.

What two struggling neighbouring clubs in Cavan should amalgamate?

Should Maghera and Ramor not be one club?

They are more or less. The Coles, Stephen Monaghan and James McEnroe from Maghera.
