Good point to get all the same. This is our level. Well done to all involved."
This is our level? We got relegated.

Sorry Ned,

Not gone just yet, a win for us and a Mayo defeat against Donegal might still keep us up.

To use the managers language, lets get get another performance next weekend.

That was a soul destroying result. I thought we'd sneak a win because we played well at times, but poor shot selection cost us dearly. Looking forward, it is very dis-heartening to make an immediate return to division 2, it's not what a developing team needs, but we simply weren't up to scratch at this level, and got handed a few lessons along the way. I hope the team have learned from this campaign, and I think they have as towards the end we showed huge improvement and were well able to compete with Kerry and Mayo. Mattie is getting things right, a win against Roscommon in our last game would at least give us a confidence boost going into the Ulster championship.

How so Fred? We have 4 points, and a -20 points difference? Correct me if I'm wrong, by all means.

Ahhh, I stand corrected, if Mayo lose and we win our last game, we survive. Not so bad, I thought we were buried after today.

Hopefully Donegal will do us a favour next weekend and beat Mayo away.
If we then can beat Roscommon our bogey team of the last few years.. then we will stay up, and deservedly so.
Mattie is starting to make his mark with the team.
Forwards shooting needs to improve. I know it was windy but we do need more accuracy in front of goal at this level .

I was overly critical of McGlennan it seems. He looks to be a fella who learns very quickly. His use of the bench today was excellent. Mackey and McDermot were excellent. We also need Kerry to pick up a point at least next weekend as well as a Mayo loss.

We also need Kerry to draw or beat Tyrone to move them above 6 points.

Let's worry about Roscommon first.. we are not use to beating them when it mattered this past 4 years..
Still hopefully times have changed!

Hadn't factored that into the equation either, looks like today's result is a stay of execution really. But we live in hope.

This match today I thought had some quality but really there is loads of room for improvement. This is a match that we gave away a point that could well haunt us.
7 wides on the trot to allow Kerry a two point lead was pure sacrilege . I know Kerry ended up with more wides in the whole match but I feel players need to be aware of the runners either on their left or their right. Two occasions Joe Dillion was running of a player with tons of room and had the option been taken he would have buried both. We need to work on this and realise there are other options. We took two shots for goals when the better option would have been to punch the ball over the bar. We need to get this killer instinct. Overall the substitutions were spot on but we lost a quality player this has to stop. I know his heart is in the right place but he needs to be more subtle when going into attack. Mackey came on in just the right time great move. One thing that annoyed me was we started to mess about with this passing back and across the pitch and the clock was ticking down this needs to stop move forward plenty options. Maybe a few were below par today but overall everyone worked hard. Great 45 scored by Raymond as well. Unfortunately our faith is not in our hands but please god Donegal will beat Mayo and Tyrone draw with Kerry and we will be playing division 1 next year I think it will be fantastic if this happens. It was a great atmosphere today on our county pitch and I can tell you as a Cork man I was never so proud of a Cavan team in all my years as I was today they are a credit to the jersey. I can now say without fear of contradiction they are a credit to the jersey and mean it. Well done to all and it was great to see Joe Dillion play today as well for this lad loves his roots dearly and has a solid heart. Congratulations to all the players also the management team. Roll on the next match Roscommon let's get rid of the monkey.

Yes you were . We said at beginning of league to wait until the end of the league before judging Mattie. Also players to come back and we seen two of them today looking fitter and sharper than before (mc Dermot and mackey) . IMO it will have been a very good league IF we beat Roscommon. So Damien think before coming out with statements mid league. Tought Killian proved where his best position was and thats FULL BACK. Rory Dunne excellent at wing back . Im getting excited now but we have to beat Roscommon. Come on Cavan.

Haha you jumped the gun Ned ;)

I'll forgive you this time.

What I meant is we have shown we can go toe to toe with any team (except maybe dublin) and if we play to our strengths we've a figting chance.

Let's win next weekend and whatever happens happens. That's all we can do now.

No doubt about it, we've learned very very quickly, it was looking like we weren't going to pick up any more points after the Monaghan game, because not only were we losing but the performances were poor as well. However the last two games have shown a drastic improvement. Our shot taking is very poor however, 10 wides in the first half alone, the depressing thing is we could have easily won that game with a bit more precision in front of goal. Missed opportunities cost us. McGleenan has to be commended for his tactics and use of subs, very effective today. As you say, all we can do is hope now.

There is hope tho. .

Every team has something to play for next week except roscommon.

I think every Cavan fan would have taken 4points with the rossies game left and with survival still a possibility.

We may look back at missed chances today, and in the Monaghan game, but hopefully it doesn't come to that. Kerry missed quite a bit too as did mayo last week (and Tyrone today in a game that had a big impact on us). It's the way it goes.

We did well to get a draw but get real lads, we were wiped out at midfield and had no strategy for a kick out other than blast it up the middle where Moran won everything. Given that we probably won 25% of our own kick out a zero of theirs it pretty amazing we got a point. Our shooting in 1st half was brutal. For me mcvitty was class. Mackey and McDermott made huge impacts. Defensively we were very good but killian and Corr's last 2 frees conceded were really stupid and could've cost us the game. I thought we looked absolutely wrecked with 10 mins to go so a lot of fitness work is needed. Anyway we earned a fighting chance next weekend.

Great to be playing Kerry on a glorious Day in Breffni and to be competitive , lack of quality shooting is still the achilles heel but overall you would have been happy at beginning of season to say we would draw with Kerry.People kept going even when not going great at times shown by Moynagh for the 2nd last point. It would be great to get more seasons at this level , it would help to bring us on Very Proud of the team and effort this season and also their patience and class when dealing with people looking for photos and autographs after the match. The more time mc gleenan gets with the squad the better , last 2 games have given us hope. An Cabhain abu.
