Another financial blow

February 02, 2012
Wexford County Board received another financial setback this week.

The financial crisis gripping the Model County took another turn for the worse when chairman Diarmuid Devereux revealed that the Board had to hand over EUR200k to Leinster Council.

At least the payment has been made but the loss of that money places a strain on funding in the county and provincial council is still owed a further 170k:

"While we have managed to move things on with the down payment of EUR200,000 of the EUR370,000 we owe the provincial council, we still owe them some EUR170,000-odd," Devereux revealed.

"We have held back some EUR70,000 to pay the club development grants that had been left outstanding, while EUR30,000 to EUR35,000 has been paid off a large group of small creditors.

"Some creditors owed EUR3,000 have been paid EUR1,000."
