Ryan anticipates tough Louth test

Wexford football manager Jason Ryan expects Louth to set a stiff test for his side in Sunday's National Football League Division 3 opener in Drogheda - but he is still setting his sights on starting with a victory.

Ryan's side for Sunday's showdown is missing star forwards Mattie Forde, whose future on the intercounty scene is in doubt, shoulder injury victim Adrian Morrissey and erstwhile UCD ace Ciaran Lyng.

Given those absentees, the Wexford boss admits the trip to Drogheda represents a tricky assignment - but he is still confident his side will deliver the goods.

He told the Wexford People: "Louth have come flying out of the blocks like they showed against Kildare last Sunday. They are a very good, balanced side which will make for a difficult game.

"But we will be going there to win. We will approach each game with a winning mentality. It's not going to be easy in Division 3, there's no easy game and even one defeat will make [promotion] difficult."
