Wexford manager Colm Bonnar knows that with the start of the league campaign drawing closer, the time for 'serious' hurling has dawn.

In the last week, Wexford have played Waterford IT and Waterford in challenge matches and this Sunday they face UCD in the Walsh Cup.

With the league starting in a few weeks, Bonnar knows now is the time to step up the performance levels as the campaign gets down to serious business.

"We have a difficult opening league game away to Westmeath so the Walsh Cup provides us with a real opportunity to get in some serious hurling," said Bonnar.

"A victory on Sunday would give us another competitive game in the lead up to the league. This is an important competition which gives the players a real chance of getting in necessary results." Tweet
