Bonnar bemoans Division 2 status

Wexford manager Colm Bonnar
Wexford hurling manager Colm Bonnar admits he isn't looking forward to the prospect of spending another season in Division 2 of the National League.
The Model County failed to gain promotion back to the top flight last year after losing the Division 2 final to Offaly - a defeat they avenged in the Leinster championship. And Bonnar concedes that playing against lesser quality teams is not ideal preparation for the championship.
"I don't think there's a huge difference in the quality of the hurlers between the two divisions," the former Tipperary star said.
"But you could see last year that there was a big difference in the intensity and pace they played the game at. When you're tested week in, week out by your Tipperary's and Kilkenny's, it does definitely bring a player on. That's no disrespect for Division 2.
"I'm sure other teams will be looking at us to test themselves against and maybe put one over on ourselves and Clare. They'll be lifting their games against us and having a cut off us. But we're on record as saying that we believe we're a Division 1 team and we've to back that up now with performances."
Meanwhile, midfielder Eoin Quigley is targeting the second round National League clash with Down on February 28 as his comeback date.
Quigley, who has been sidelined since tearing his cruciate ligament last March, is close to making a return and Bonnar added: "Eoin probably won't be able to hurl until the end of February. He's coming on slowly, we're not rushing him."
