McInerney Homes: Now in Westmeath

March 31, 2007
Ireland's largest and most celebrated house builder McInerney Homes has arrived in Westmeath. The company has undertaken a significant development at Cornamaddy, Athlone, which represents a massive commitment from McInerney to the midlands area. Furthermore, McInerney Homes boasts strong links with the GAA and its work in Westmeath is sure to have a positive spin-off for local gaels. News of McInerney Homes' impending development at Cornamaddy, Athlone, County Westmeath comes as a tremendous fillip to prospective house buyers in the midlands area. The sheer scale of McInerney's maiden venture in the midlands is a measure of the confidence the company has in the region. By all accounts, this would appear to be the beginning of something very big. For the best part of a century, McInerney Homes has provided top quality housing to the people of Ireland, mainly operating south of a line from north Dublin to Sligo. Despite developing extensively in Galway, Sligo, Dublin, Wicklow, Limerick, Tipperary, Cork, Waterford, etc., the midlands is only now being targeted as a new market. Associate Director Fergus McMahon, who is responsible for overseeing all developments in Galway, Sligo and Athlone, confirms: "The midlands is a new area for McInerney Homes and Athlone is our first move into that region. We have set up a new midlands office and we are currently investigating additional properties in Mullingar, Tullamore, Clara and Moate…" For the Athlone development, McInerney Homes has purchased 64 acres in Cornamaddy and has initial plans for 88 houses. In the long term, it is hoped that up to 600 houses will be built on the site, which could keep McInerney active in the area for anything up to eight years. During this time, they plan to substantially increase their presence in the region in general. As Fergus notes: "Cornamaddy is a large development by any standards. We have gone in big and this reflects the confidence we have in the midlands." Planning permission was granted in November 2006 and the site had been secured at the time of writing, in preparation for the groundworks to begin. The homes at Cornamaddy will comprise two-bedroom mid-terrace; three-bedroom mid-terrace, end-terrace and semi-detached; four-bedroom mid-terrace, end-terrace and semi-detached; and four bedroom detached, ranging from 850 sq ft to 1500 sq ft. McInerney Homes sets itself apart from the competition in that its developments are sustainable communities suited to family living rather than simply schemes of houses bought for rental purposes. The houses are maintained to a high level - inside and outside - and the developers do everything in their power to ensure that families are happy to live in houses and communities that are finished to exceptionally high detail. The company prides itself on a massive commitment to customer care and provides an extensive aftersales service that's unique in Ireland. The Cornamaddy development is due to launch in March and the showhouse will open in July. By focusing on creating an appealing development within a sustainable environment, McInerney is displaying total commitment to the midlands region. Feedback from local authorities and councillors has been extremely positive to date and the auctioneer handling the development - ERA Oates in Athlone - has reported a very favourable response already. McInerney Homes Ltd. is a subsidiary of McInerney Holdings, an Irish-based construction and property development group with interests in Ireland, England and Spain. Ireland's largest national residential house builder, McInerney Homes brings an unrivalled degree of excellent to each job. Founded in County Clare by Thomas McInerney in 1909, McInerney has been in the business of building for people for almost 100 years and applies the same painstaking attention to detail today as it did when the founder built his first home all those years ago. Thomas' sons Dan (the well-known former Clare hurler) and Ambrose were instrumental in developing McInerney Homes into a multinational company, with a turnover recorded last year of approximately 460 million euro. McInerney is currently developing homes in over 25 locations throughout Leinster, Connacht and Munster, and has offices in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick, Thurles and Waterford (head office). Though the company specialises predominantly in developing and building on its own sites, they also have 100 million euro worth of contract work on their books at the moment. The key to the McInerney's continued success in the market is its flexibility. McInerney Homes hassuccessfully integrated traditional building skills and workmanship with a thorough understanding of current building requirements and regulations. The company's understanding of the needs of today's home buyer is reflected in every aspect of its construction and finish. Each development is selected, planned and built to become an integral part of the community and surrounding environment, be it as a range of new and refurbished properties, including townhouses, apartments, duplex, family and executive homes or retirement homes. With over 80,000 homes built to date, McInerney Homes has earned an enviable reputation for design, integrity and quality craftsmanship, through its straightforward approach to business. McInerney has also gained a much sought after reputation in the marketplace for value for money, not only in the final contract price but also in the speed and quality of the construction works. Deadlines are strictly adhered to, allowing both existing and prospective customers to relax in the knowledge that not only will their project be completed to unrivalled standards of quality but it will also be finished on time and within budget. Regarding the contribution that the upcoming development at Cornamaddy will make to the local GAA fraternity, Fergus McMahon notes: "We tend to build communities where people want to live rather than purely property for investment, and this affords our customers peace of mind. As well as buying homes that are well-built, well-maintained and finished to a high specification, they are also moving to an attractive community that offers all the benefits of family living. Our developments are extremely suited to home owners and ultimately that will feed into the GAA, which is at the heart of every community. "We have a proven track record in developing sustainable communities all over Ireland and we are very confident that people will want to live here. That will play right into the hands of the local GAA clubs and, naturally, it's a nice bonus for McInerney Homes."
