Here are the players who stood out for us from an eventful weekend of club hurling action...

1. Karl McDermott (Cluainin)

Saved a second-half penalty as Cluainin finished with five points to spare over Carrick in the Leitrim SHC decider.

2. Paul McNeill (Slaughtneil)

It was a day to remember for McNeill and his history making Slaughtneil team-mates at the Athletic Grounds.

3. Barry Coughlan (Ballygunner)

Coughlan was a solid presence in the heart of the Ballygunner defence as they put the shackles on the Passage forwards.

4. Dermot Shortt (St Rynagh's)

A 23 year wait came to an end for Shortt and St Rynagh's as they proved too strong for Birr in O'Connor Park.

5. Gary Greville (Raharney)

Gary and his brothers, Johnny (manager), Paul and Robbie, played leading roles in Raharney's Westmeath SHC final second-half comeback against Clonkill.

6. Diarmaid Byrnes (Patrickswell)

The Limerick star sent over six points (five frees) as the 'Well coasted to a 19 point final victory over parish rivals Ballybrown.

7. Philip Mahony (Ballygunner)

The Waterford champions will now turn their attention to a Munster Club SHC date with Thurles Sarsfields in Semple Stadium next Sunday.

8. Cian Lynch (Patrickswell)

The talented Lynch, who sent over three points, picked up the 'man-of-the-match' accolade in the Gaelic Grounds.

9. Chrissy McKaigue (Slaughtneil)

The Oak Leaf dual star led by example as Slaughneil upset the odds to record a famous victory at Loughgiel Shamrocks' expense.

10. Ronan Hughes (St Rynagh's)

The man of the match's late goal wrapped up a 2-16 to 1-15 win over rivals Birr at O'Connor Park.

11. Pauric Mahony (Ballygunner)

The Deise sharpshooter contributed 1-11 (0-7 frees) to the Gunner's winning tally of 4-20.

12. Keith Higgins (Ballyhaunis)

Better known for his footballing exploits, the Mayo dual star reeled off five unanswered points to rescue a draw for Ballyhaunis against Tooreen.

13. Christy Moorehouse (Bray Emmets)

The captain sent over six points and set up an additional 1-2 as the holders disposed of Carnew Emmets at the second attempt.

14. PJ Scully (Borris-Kilcotton)

The full-forward took the scoring honours with 0-12 (all frees) as Borris-Kilcotton claimed their first Laois SHC success following a replay with Rathdowney-Errill.

15. Ross Ryan (Kiltale)

Found the target with four points as Kiltale made it three Meath SHC victories in a row at Pairc Tailteann.
